Had to pay a visit to Landkey this evening and decided to have a drink at The Castle. Lovely warm friendly pub, the beer was great so decided to have something to eat too. We were not disappointed great vegetarian options I had Penang Curry and my partner had Jackfruit Emchiladas both were delicious. Lovely friendly barman, landlady Sharon (Her husband is the chef) a great experience we will be back.

Arrived late having tried and failed to get into a well known eatery not far from here.Found the sign almost by accident and thought why not? What a welcome on a chilly wet day not only from the landlord and landlady but from the locals.Despite at getting late for lunch there was plenty on offer and the locals made it clear that the lady of the house cooked all the food from local sources. The food was superb. Now this isn't a flash gastro pub, it's a "local" with a proper coal/log fire, old books on the shelves and artifacts on the walls that look as though they have been there for decades! If you are within 30 miles of this place anytime soon, visit. You will not be disappointed. Finally, thank you to all in the bar that Sunday for the warm welcome and the chat.

Local, good home cooked food, home made chutneys and jams. Fresh vegetables and salad, all home grown. Swimming pool open to the public. Camping, Statics, Cottages and hard standings. Friendly and hopefully to the best of our ability helpful in any way we
Nothing wrong with the service; the woman behind the bar was friendly and helpful enough. Entrance not unattractive with plants and row of paperbacks in the window. As for the interior environment - mmh! Well, actually, not that great. The main bar area is large with smaller room to the side and frankly all a bit basic. Drinks were fine and a quite nice County Best as one of the real ales. As for the food, we decided on sandwich/bruschetta and they were okay; certainly no problems in terms of quantity! Value about average I guess. Large parking area on the other side of the road, with campsite behind.

Although it was fairly early, we stopped here to get some food as a lot of other places were closed, the welcome was warm but the atmosphere was almost none existant, the beer was good mind, we opted elsewhere for food. Shame really!

The Coaching Inn is a traditional local pub that seems to have changed little over the years. It has a large bar area with friendly and helpful bar and kitchen staff. Meals are equally traditional with generous portions. The whitebait starter was tasty with a battered and batter-free mix, the chilli concarne was extra spicy, and the heavily battered potato-based fishcakes with âsautéâ potatoes (more like very thin-cut roast potatoes) was perhaps a little disappointing. The beer was good and the central town location with car park makes for easy access.

Another great revisit to this unique pub on the Exmoor border. Quirky landlord and excellent location for post walk drinks.

We had been driving from Essex to Devon and I had the fancies for an all day Breakfast after the last time I ate out and we had been looking for somewhere for a while, not knowing the area of course made it a bit hit and miss. We came upon this place on the roundabout which served carvery and all day breakfast so it suited both of us, we had to turn back to get to it as we had driven past it and it looked really nice from the outside. It wasnât too busy, we parked up easy and we went inside and were shown to a table right down the end by the window. The first thing I noticed was something I had put my hand in on the table yuk, and then how sticky the table was so every time I leant on it I got stuck, itâs not a nice feeling. The chairs were all split or worn and the place was in need of decor but of course that doesnât affect the food.I was told being Sunday there was no all day breakfast alas but at least hubby would get a roast after all his driving. They did the roasts and a list of meals on a huge blackboard down by the door which you had to go up and read. You then order your food at the table and get told when to go and get it from the carvery. He had roast pork which was cold, potatoes cold, vegetables cold and a bit to hard for his liking, Yorkshire weird! Perhaps if it had all been piping hot it would have made a difference, who wants to eat a cold or tepid dinner. It all could have been so much better. My dinner was vegetarian chilli with rice and the plate was so full it was slopping over the edge when they bought it to me, it didnât look very appealing but it did taste delicious. It was in the microwave a little too long as very hot but I really would eat it again it was scrummy. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We found this pub by chance whilst out walking one evening. If is full of character and has friendly staff. What we can't understand is how my husbands turbot was cooked to perfection and he said it was very good. My fish and chips was a.major disappointment. The chips were boring (I think shop bought) and the batter on the fish was to hard to eat . Such a shame.
