Discover Restaurants offering the best Bar food in Sandown, England, United Kingdom. Sandown is a seaside resort town and civil parish on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, England, which neighbours the town of Shanklin to the south, with the village of Lake in between the two settlements. Sandown Bay is the name of the bay off the English Channel which both towns share, and it is notable for its long stretch of easily accessible golden sandy beach. It is the site of the lost Sandown Castle. Whilst undergoing construction, this was attacked by a French force which had fought its way over Culver Down from Whitecliff Bay, resulting in the French being repulsed. It was built too far into the sea and constantly suffered erosion, until now reduced to a pile of rocks. Later forts in the town include the Diamond Fort (named after its plan), built inshore to replace the castle and which fought off a minor attack from privateers (probably French) in 1788, and the present "Granite Fort" at Yaverland, which is now the zoo. Together with Shanklin, Sandown forms a built up area of 21,374 inhabitants.

Was struggling to get a table at our usual haunts on the IOW, so decided to give this pub a go based on the reviews here. Was not disappointed, excellent food my partner had barbecue ribs to die for, and I had one of the best steak and ale pies in my experience. Really good deserts followed and at a reasonable price. Loved the aircraft themed decor as well of course it is located next to the airport. Plenty of parking as well. Note would advise you reserve a table in advance. as it gets busy.

This is a really good pub with a large garden including lovely CLEAN equipment for toddlers and an activity type playground for older kids. Silent cinema and an ice cream factory ( few more toppings please) food is typical pub grub but service was quick even when really busy. Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Our garden is certainly a hit with kids of all ages, and the silent cinema inside is also very popular! It's lovely to hear you enjoyed your visit with us and we hope to welcome you back again soon!

Booked this lunch 2 weeks before we arrived in IOW. This place is out of the way but well worth going to. Asked for a seat in the veranda area. It was a beautiful sunny Sunday. They were extremely busy but we were served drinks given menus and told our table was named and ready for us. We ordered our food and it was served within 5 to 10 minutes. Presentation, quality and quantity is excellent. We also had desserts which we donât normally have but again excellent quality and presentation. Would definitely recommend and will be going back mid week for their famous meat pit, canât wait.

Kynges Well is a family run pub situated in the historic town of brading, on the Isle of Wight. We serve fresh, homemade meals daily - using all local produce and our specials board is updated daily with a traditional roast dinner available on Sundays. Li
The modest frontage hides a large dining area, and though the car park is small there is more parking not far uphill. Interesting menu with a good gluten free selection served by genuinely helpful, interested and engaging staff. Big portions so you may not need a starter or dessert! Almost merits five stars but the food was a bit cold and my fish slightly over cooked ( though there was a sudden rush of people just as we arrived) and there is stiff competition on the island in god pub food. Donât let my rating put you off as weâd certainly go again.

A warm welcome awaits at The Pointer, where Landlord and Lady, Rob and Rachel, invite you to join them in one of the Islands oldest, most historic pubs.
Stopped here on a Monday lunchtime for some refreshment after a 20 minutes ride from the ferry at East Cowes. Good beer as youâd expect from Fullers. Friendly and helpful staff in a lovely cosy bar. Food was delicious and beautifully presented, especially the ploughmans lunch.
