No swearing, no phones no tablets no problems. What there is is excellent hearty British cuisine that fills you up and doesnât empty your bank account. The pies are full of meat the gravy rich and tasty and the puddings top it all off. The staff are friendly and helpful and the harbour view nice. All in all no frills excellent and if you canât survive an hour or so without your mobile I pity you.

Abbey Wharf's restaurant comfortably seats over 250 guests, in our beautifully refurbished premises. As well as tables for groups of various sizes within our main seating area we also have room for diners who prefer something a little more 'al fresco'. Wi
This meal was a tale of two halves. Great food and location but then let down by the service. We were welcomed in and were seated next to the large windows with lovely views over the water. I had the fish and chips which were cooked to perfection and very fresh. My daughters fish bites were also of a high standard. My partner had the mussels and chips. These were cooked well in a delicious sauce. Unfortunately this is where it went down hill. No plates cleared up, we werenât asked if we wanted any more drinks and no follow up to get my daughter her ice cream as part of her meal deal. To the restaurantâs credit a new young male waiter had just come on shift and he sorted us out when we called him over. I did complain when paying and the person at the till was apologetic. There did appear to be an issue with staffing/serving systems in place. I hope they sort this out as the food and setting were really good.

Visited a few days ago, with my wife and 3 month old baby. The weather was horrendous, so decided to duck into this place (weâd walked past on many occasions on past visits to Whitby) managed to get a table no probs (and help with the pram from the bar staff). The decor is awesome, really up to date and contemporary and this runs throughout the venue. I had a pint of their own beer (lobster logo) which was super tasty and my wife had a GnT. We decided to have a look at the menu to have a little something to eat and weâre stopped in our tracks by the cost of the food on the menu!!Because of the price we decided to share the vegetable skewers between us, thinking itâs £17, probs going to fill us both for that price....... it didnât. For £17 you were served one skewer of roasted vegetables (about 80p worth of veg) a small side of french fries and a small side salad. Really disappointed with the food to price ratio (felt ripped off to be fair). The other disappointment came when I went to change my babies nappy, the venue didnât have baby changing facilities so had to resource to changing my 3 month old on a changing mat on the toilet lid and nowhere to throw away a nappy, SUPER DISAPPOINTED!!! This is the first place in the three months baby has been born, that there has been no facilities when weâve been out, come on guys get a foldable changer bolted to the wall! Staff were super friendly and really welcoming and couldnât do more for us, but would think again about ordering food. Perfectly good place for a drink when the weather takes a turn!

We've just got back from celebrating my husbands 80th birthday at The Stables along with all our family, ranging from two months to eighty! We had an evening meal, overnight stay and breakfast for eighteen of us. My husband and I had been there several times and decided that it was special enough for his birthday and we were confident that the family would be happy there! We were not wrong !! From us all arriving at different times yesterday we were all made so welcome. The staff were amazing. So friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Our rooms were just beautiful, especially The Lodge, with the sauna and hot tub. The whole ambience of the restaurant was perfect, and the outside with the views, and the pond, was lovely for photographs. Our meal last night could not be faulted, we all had something different and we were all delighted with the delicious food. As we all were with the breakfast this morning. We had a room to ourselves for our evening meal, and I was amazed at the service when the restaurant was full and there was another large party in. I cannot fault The Stables in any way and will be visiting there again on our next trip to Whitby. Thank you all for making my husband's birthday so special, I couldn't have asked for any more!

Ate here on our first night in Whitby, staff are always warm and welcoming at this bar. We ate upstairs it wasnât noisy or over crowded but had a lovely ambience. On recommendation I had the chicken with sweet potato purée which was delicious and just the right portion size, my husband had the seafood linguini which he also enjoyed. We have wanted to dine here for sometime and it was worth the wait.

The first time I went here I literally couldn't get in the door because it was so packed. My second attempt was much more successful. Small front bar, slightly larger back back. Decent ales on cask on the bar. Good atmosphere. Recommended.

Stayed here in one of the new Shepherds Huts and enjoyed a great stay! Our first time glamping experience was definitely a success. Really well kitted out hut, comfy bed, sofa, TV and drinking facilities. All very clean and well maintained, with good facilities for toilet & shower. Full english breakfast was awesome! A quick taxi trip in/out of town if you donât like to walk. Thanks to Ben and his team for a great stay (and your mum was a superb breakfast host!) and the pub locals were extremely welcoming too!
