The Wheatsheaf Inn is a friendly, traditional pub and restaurant at the heart of the Woodhouse Eaves community. The inn dates back to the 18th century and used to be a meeting place for the local slate miners, when it was know as the 'Slate Splitters Arms
We visited the Wheatsheaf Inn on a dreich, rainy Friday for lunch. We received a warm welcome on arrival and the server was very friendly and attentive. There is a traditional bar and restaurant with olde worlde character. The quaint rooms have low ceilings with beams. There is also outside seating area and a car park at the rear.We chose 2 mains with drinks. The cordon bleu chicken burger was delicious and filling. The chicken breast was substantial and covered in hot melted cheese. The pork schnitzel was coated in crispy buttery breadcrumbs. The pork was thick and juicy and well cooked and came with a soft and runny fried egg plus skinny fries and peas. The prices are reasonable and there is a fully stocked bar with several real ales and wines by the glass. Definitely a good place to visit for lunch.

The Woodies is a fairly frequent place for colleagues from our work to meet for drinks, and the atmosphere is good - whilst a traditional village pub it is welcoming. Decent selection of ales and bottles. In good weather it is a lovely spot to sit outside, although the car park sure fill up quickly and the local streets tend to get a bit clogged up.

Hotel definitely on your site
Visited as a party of ten on a Friday evening. Had a drink in the grounds before which is lovely on a summer's evening. There were 10 of us in our party and were sat in the chapel which is beautiful. Orders were taken after about 15 minutes after being seated. The restaurant was very busy. We had to wait over an hour for our meals to come out eith no apology for the wait or warning it would take this long. The staff all seemed rushed off their feet. Perhaps more staff needed in kitchen and serving. All the food was nice.I am sorry that the service was a little slow for your meal but glad that the food was goodWe were very busy that night with the weather

We don't pretend to be anything other than an uncomplicated, traditional country inn. Enjoy great home-cooked food in the relaxed, unpretentious surroundings of our little family run pub and leave contented and happy, that is all we ask!!
Delicious, freshly cooked food in a relaxing, very traditional, pub setting - surrounded by greenery. The staff were exceptional and the beer was great. A memorable experience all round

Mid-Work early dinner. Welcoming staff, nice traditional interior with a few well placed modern touches as well. Quite a few pubs nearby but pleased that I chose this one. My food tip is the Caesar Salad, which really is a meal. Good range of beers well presented.

Italian friends from London joined us for Sunday lunch at the Blue Bell where we had eaten several times before but unfortunately this time our visit was very average. The Sunday roast was ok but not particularly hot. Staff were very pleasant but a disappointing compared to previous visits.

Been coming here for years. Menu changed and not for the better. Very disappointed, side salad on sandwiches disappeared completely, brie bacon and cranberry sandwich so slathered in sweet cranberry goo it dripped everywhere and tasted only of sweet sauce.
