My husband and I visited Claxonâs for the first time to give their BBQ a try. We both love smoked meats. Our server, Megan, was very sweet, attentive and helpful. I ordered the rib/smoked meat combo with a side of green beans, pulled pork and sliced brisket. The ribs were good (had a sweet tang to them with a little heat on the back side. The meat was just a bit tough to get off the bone, but the juiciness and flavor offset that. I found the brisket and pork both on the dry side, even after dunking it in a very tasty and sweet sauce. The green beans, in my opinion, werenât worth eating. Very bland and even after generous salting, I left them in the plate. My husband had the Three Pigs sandwich. It was a tenderloin topped with bacon and pulled pork. He said it was âokay.â The pork wast dry to him as well, and the tenderloin nothing special. His Mac and cheese was creamy, but again, flavorless. In general the seasoning for side dishes should be ramped up. Refills were prompt and everything was clean.

Serving the best of authentic New Orleans and American Cuisine!
Being from California we are perhaps more attracted to lighter fare. That is not on offer at Buzzard Billy's. We had lunch there during a break from our grandson's gymnastic competition across the street at the HyVee arena. The blackened catfish was pretty good; the Jambalaya was not. Staff was friendly (everyone in Iowa seems friendly).

While I gather this is a generally great place for German food (came recommended at the hotel where I stayed), it happened to be Oktoberfest when I walked over! The street in front of the restaurant was blocked off. The restaurant itself was extremely crowded and loud -- no surprise given the ongoing celebration! The staff was all dressed in traditional German garb. While it was a fun time, I'd perhaps recommend going there during a quiet, normal time!

A casual brew pub that fits all occasions. Stop in for a quick beer, bring the family for a round table dinner, or have that workplace pow-wow your employees deserve! Call ahead for reservations, or just swing on in.
We were looking for a place to have a nice lunch before traipsing off to the Fair, and our hotel recommended this restaurant. Absolutely one of the most delicious and juicy burgers that I have ever had! My husband had the Maple Butter Burger and raved about it. We would highly recommend this establishment and will return when next in the area.

This British/Irish/Scottish pub looks like the real thing (I was in England last fall). The drinks and menu are nice; the food is good. If you want to step out and feel as if you walked into another country, this is the place.

For craft beer lovers, elBait shop is the place for you. With 262 beers on tap. Every thing from light-easy drinking to dark- roasted creamy beers, & everything in between. They carry beers from all over the US. The bar staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. (As you would expect when your serving such an extensive selection.) There beer menu is updated weekly, with the taps changing on a regular basis. If your not into road tripping to hunt down craft breweries. This is the place to go.

Great Location! NO PARKING! The service was good! But the food from the kitcken was slow. Very cute waiter was most appolijetic about the slow food. Food was ok! Lots of choices on burger toppings, but in the end it is just a burger. Tenderloin on the other hand was great! A lot of meat lite breading really good!

Went for dinner on a Friday around 6pm, place was packed. Nearly impossible to walk up to the bar to get beers...at least nearly impossible to get noticed. The standing around the bar tab couldn't be rolled into my dinner ticket, so ended waiting a long time for someone to take my card...twice....that sucked. On a different note, the meatloaf sandwich was recommended and was very good.

We love this place. We forget to eat at Jethros, some nights. But, when we return, we are reminded why we love this restaurant. There were two couples in our party. The restaurant was busy, but we did not have a wait. My husband and I shared both an appetizer of wings and also a platter for two. Everything was great.

On the outside, this place is great! Cool facility, lots of craft beers on tap, and an impressive-looking menu. The menu is pricey, but would be worth it if the food was as delicious as the menu would lead you to believe. It is not. The salads are certainly not work $9--they are basically a plate of lettuce, canned fruit with a tiny chicken breast. The sandwiches are not fresh at all--they seem to have been made in advance and left to dry out. Over all, the food is terrible. The service is slow and the servers/bartenders are not very friendly. This place could do so much better.
