Was greeted with a smile and given a friendly waitress who brought us everything we needed. I ordered the salmon and it was perfectly cooked...which doesnât happen a lot with chain restaurants. We also ordered chicken crispers with Jack Daniels sauce and that was good as well.

Very pleasant atmosphere, definitely above average bar food, and great on-tap beer selection (wine selection just okay). the bartenders are friendly, fast, and consistent. This is a favorite neighborhood stomping ground, often quite busy with regulars. There is outside seating as well. Bar clientele tends to be more mature, in the 30-50-year-old range. Not a college bar.

Saw Saddleback online and decided to try the place as good BBQ is hard to find here in the Lansing Area. Oh yeah there's Meat, but I hate waiting and don't want to take a chance of the things I want being sold out--So off to Saddleback Barbeque. The restaurant is very laid back casual, almost a take-out place in disguise, but it's clean and comfortable. The menu is all BBQ. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket, chicken several styles. When you order know that everything is ala-carte but the sides are big enough for two to share. We started with Bloody Mary's--WOW--they were great! Spicy and everything a Bloody Mary should be. We tried the chips and dip appetizer. Homemade chips and dip enough for the 4 of us. For Entrees, we had the 1/2 rack of ribs, pulled pork, smoked Turkey and the pulled pork sandwich. Everything was great--A side of fresh cut fries was enough for 3 of us, the Macaroni and Cheese creamy and cheesy, the only disappointment was the cole slaw, portrayed as Southern it was far from it--dressing was lacking and the cabbage was dry. The portion sizes were generous and everything was delicious. Service was friendly, fast and enjoyable. Our waiter talked us through the menu and answered all our questions with humor and a friendly attitude. Everything here is scratch made and excellent--the BBQ is slow smoked overnight and the designated smoker is listed on the menu board for all to know who has to mind the smoker that night--I love this place and the brisket rivals anything I've eaten in Texas. Good food, a fun place, with a great bar and craft beers. Oh, and they have a loyalty program too--so you get stuff when you spend money there!!!

Trophywife and I met some friends and family for lunch here recently. It was the second time we had done so. The $7.99 price for the lunch buffet is excellent. You get a salad or soup and all you can eat pizza. The pizza is buffet style, you go up and choose what you want. There are usually five pizzas that you can choose from as well as a calzone that has been cut up. The food is tasty and this would be an excellent lunch venue. However, it did not take long to realize that there were several (three or four) flies buzzing around our table of nine. When we thought about it, we remembered that there had also been a few flies buzzing around at our last visit. This is very unsanitary, especially with food sitting out. It made us wonder how many were in the kitchen and how many had landed on the pizzas before we took a slice. In addition, it was annoying trying to shoo them away from the food on our table. Though we liked the price and the food, I'm afraid that this was our last trip to Old Chicago for lunch.

This was my first time to this Campus Eats visited restaurant that highlighted the olive burger. They have a long bar that seems like it should seat more than 12 and a dart board section (3) toward the entrance. Overall there were three people at the bar and 8 others in the restaurant. The place is very casual and they have a simple menu which I figured out was because the kitchen runs right off the side of the bar and is very small. My order was an olive burger with cheese (6.85) and a rodeo burger ($6.35). They come with chips or an up charge for fries ($1.60) and coleslaw ($1.60). I heard the beef was fresh and not frozen likely around 5-6 ounces. My server never asked how I wanted them cooked so it was disappointing that they were closer to well done than medium. Neither burger was juicy but were no totally dry. The edges were charred which was a plus. The olive burger had an interesting taste but to me was more of a marketing novelty than a real deal offering. I would never order it again. The fries were crisp and the pickles decent. The other burger with bacon and cheese was average at best as was the coleslaw.

Second time I've been and brought some newbies along with me. Don't let the "hole in the wall" exterior scare you away. The service is fantastic, the food is delish and there's a large selection of beer. If you're ever in East Lansing, this place is a must!

The Chicago Deep dish pizza is a must try... super yummy!! So good I had to go back the next day and try something else. Had a cocktail, the rueben sandwich and decided to treat myself with the best shake Iâve had in years. If you are in East Lansing... stop here to eat... nice staff and fantastic food - and donât forget to treat yourself to a shake too (I had the strawberry)!!
