This place seems to style itself after a German beer Hall. It only has two options for beer but it did have wine and other options. The beer was okay. The food was very good. The lamb rib appetizer was great and made the beer taste better. The horse steak was also very nicely grilled and was very tasty. The atmosphere was well done. The staff were very attentive.

I have eaten at Samovar three times, twice with larger groups of people, and once with only three of us. The first time was the best, with generous portions of very good food. The second time was mediocre at best. The last time, with the same order as the first time, and I left hungrey thinking I would not want to repeat the experience.

Undoutedly this is one of my most favourite places in Astana. Typical american-style pub that is located in the center of the right side of Astana city. Though quite small in size, it still has a cool atmoshere, live band playing every saturday night, very friendly prices and nice people coming. Lost of foreigners are coming to this the Rocks and this makes you feel like you are somewhere abroud. Definetely recommend going there on Friday-Saturday

Well, I've read some positive reviews and decided to go to this place for the one person dinner. The place was empty at 7pm Wednesday. The choice of food was not too wide, but nice. I've ordered the smoked meat, the Canadian rack of lamb and the wine. The best thing was the Australian Shiraz. The smoked meat turned to be the fried bacon. The lamb intended as Canadian looked to me as the local nice lamb. I would apologize to the place if I'm wrong, but based on my experience of ex-British rack of lamb should look an taste differently. The way they trim it from the fat and other stuff is hard to not recognize. Anyway, the dinner was ok, but I've expected more for the total bill of more than 40k kzt.

If you read my reviews you'll note I visit brewpubs and breweries all over the world. Well, this place was truly great! And much greater than several boring brewpubs I recently visited in western Europe. So I wandered in for Saturday lunch, and immediately loved the rock-n-roll and rockabilly music playing. The spacious restaurant features all types of seating, ranging from bar to lounge-style tables. The ambiance was excellent and the furnishings were stylish. They have great classic black-and-white framed photographs in addition to other interesting displays. If I were living in Astana I would be here all the time. So on to the beers: I sampled three different beers and enjoyed all of them. The Kazakh staff were all very friendly and courteous. Decided to order lamb kebabs for lunch, and quite honestly: these were some of the best lamb kebabs I ever ate in my whole life! And I do eat a LOT of lamb kebabs... from Mongolia to East Turkestan to Morocco to my own BBQ. These had the perfect amount of fat and seasonings, nicely charred, and very tender. The accompanying spicy sauce was excellent, sliced onions on the side, and the flatbread was just right. People, do please keep in mind: this is a proper bar/restaurant and not street food, therefore you will pay prices that you would expect from a normal to high-end restaurant. Plus I got to speak with the brewer about his beers! Highly recommended!

I have visited this restaurant and I am completely disappointed with the service. The administrator(with long ginger hair, unfortunately she refused saying her name) was really unhelpful and deceptive. I want to have shisha ( I called in advance to be sure that it is allowed to have shisha and they said yes) but, in fact, what I have been told that it is prohibitted. To my dissapointment, I saw other guests smoking that. What? Beside that, I was waiting for my order for amost an hour. The atmosphere war really unfriendly. I would NOT recommend that place. Personally I will never return back. The only positive person was the waitor - Vasiliy, very helpful guy! Hello! Thank you for your feedback about us. That day we could not sell hookahs on the second floor. We are very sorry for this situation. We will work to improve the quality of our service. We will be glad to see you again in our institution. I really don't know what happened to this place. It was one of the good places nearby, but recently, I highly recommend you to not to visit. Waitress is totally rude, and I'm perfectly sure all of the uniformed people don't care about clients. They're even rude at the point that they have to be kind. Service sucks, no taste at all. Most of the foreigner friends warned me about this kinda behavior, just I wanted to be sure and I did. Especially, if you're foreigner, choose another place, they don't deserve it. I was staying at the Ritz Carlton in Astana and had dinner at Ozen bar and restaurant on Saturday night. I would like to thank the amazingly attentive and friendly staff, in particular sushi chefs Zhanserik and Khalmurat for a fantastic evening with excellent food. The live music was also very high quality. First attempt to find our own way in Kazakhstan. Eureka - seriously. The best steak - BAR NONE - that I have ever eaten in a restaurant in any country including Argentina. It was perfectly cooked to order, moist, super tender and trimmed very neatly. The sides were very tasty and perfectly cooked. Partner had a roasted Mutton shoulder that was also very much to his liking - and he LOVES a lamb/hoggat/mutton dish. Seriously good.
