Visit for a lunch, after swimming with the selas. Great place! Awesome food and enormous menu for your choice, with good vibes all around, spacious... excellent spot at the bay, with a very good structure at the restaurant. Everyone should visit for a great time and very good sea food taste.

The restaurant is a local institution, renowned worldwide for the best Calamari in Cape Town, with a popular sun-drenched terrace overlooking the bay and mountains. Calamari at the Chapmans Peak was voted as "one of top 20 things to do in Cape Town".Itâs
Visited today with my husband and two children. I have to admit the food was very tasty. However I asked for rare steak and when it came over cooked I mentioned to the waitress. She called the manager who promptly questioned me in such a condescending way he made me cry. He not once apologised for the mistake in cooking it different to I ordered and as he left the table he rolled his eyes at me. I have never felt so guilty for querying my food in my life. When the waitress saw me upset she called the manager who denied rolling his eyes and said he had not done so. His apology was insincere and followed by the bill which offered no gesture of apology. Paid full price despite the upset and having to wait for my steak to be re cooked. Food was great but donât expect any courtesy or respect from the manager. The waitress on the other hand was polite and friendly. Thank you for taking the time to rate our restaurant and feedback regarding your experience at our restaurant. I am very sorry to hear that you were not entirely satisfied during your visit and really do appreciate the feedback on our food and service.Thank you for mentioning our staff, they are what makes our guest's experience so memorable and perfect.

Interesting to read of the mixed reviews. We went to watch the England-France rugby international as they have numerous TV screens. We were served almost immediately by a very friendly waiter. A short time later we realised we were in front of a screen showing soccer and were directed another spot. Staff could not have been more helpful; drinks were served promptly. We didnât eat so cannot comment on the nosh. You sit on benches so that could be a tad uncomfortable if you were in for a long session (that said there there were cushions dotted about). Bit of a downer when the power failed 5 minutes into the second half (âload-sheddingâ) but thatâs no fault of the pub. Gets a thumbs-up from us!

When in Cape Town The Red Herring has been a frequent stopping off point for some great food and today was no exception food wise. Other issued did show their ugly head showing a slipping of standards.Having been seated quickly we were left to wait while the single waiter ran around trying to take care of everybody. My wife asked to sample the house white which arrived in a glass covered in lipstick - not a good opener. Upon examination some of the cutlery was improperly washed, not water stained but dirty - strike two. The food when it arrived was great, tasty and fresh just as good food should be. We enjoyed the meal, the location and the atmosphere and although our waiter was run off his feet he did well - the house was quite busy so another person serving would have been appreciated. Now my big gripe - as we were leaving the dining area I was shocked to see two largish holes in the wooden floor in a location that someone who was visually impaired or even on crutches/walking aid could easily fallen foul of. This oversight MUST be rectified immediately. As a final plus for this establishment I have to say that the toilet I visited was spotless with all the required sundries I place and plentiful.

We were heading back from the Cape of Good Hope to Cape Town via Chapman's Peak drive, and this is a very short deviation off route. The seating is mostly outside, so not great for cold/rainy weather (they did have heaters going). However, there was live music, a nice vibe, and some of the best beer we had on our two week trip. They offer flights. Friendly service.
