Reviews on Bar food in Newburgh, New York, United States. Newburgh /ˈnuːbɜːrɡ/ is a city located in Orange County, New York, United States, 60 miles (97 km) north of New York City, and 90 miles (140 km) south of Albany, on the Hudson River. Newburgh is a part of the New York CSA. The Newburgh area was first settled in the early 18th century by the Germans and British. During the American Revolution, Newburgh served as the headquarters of the Continental Army. Prior to its chartering in 1865, the city of Newburgh was part of the town of Newburgh; the town now borders the city to the north and west. East of the city is the Hudson River; the city of Beacon, New York is across the river; and it is connected to Newburgh via the Newburgh–Beacon Bridge. The entire southern boundary of the city is with the town of New Windsor. Most of this boundary is formed by Quassaick Creek. In May 2016, the city requested help for its PFOS contaminated water supply under Superfund.

Step down into an old time bar with new beer and a tasty menu. Had a daily special of venison and bacon sliders, (very good), and a nice stout from the offerings written on boards above the bar. Other meals at the table were hamburgers and a chicken pot pie - all very good. Server was excellent and had the rare talent of memorizing the order without writing it down - she impressed us... Definitely worth a try, don’t expect tablecloths.

Good selection of quality craft beers but had some hiccups both times I was there. First time one bartender told me there were no flights being served because they expected a crowd from HV Brewery. This turned out to be false and the other bartender gladly served us our flights. The second time, the beer was warm. The bartender, who happened to be the same one who wouldn't serve us flights, apologized and did not charge us. Want to recommend but its hard because of the issues I have had there.

Upon entering the cafe, the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were there for dinner and a show. Our waiter was attentive, friendly and competent. The food, was quite disappointing. My boyfriend ordered the pasta primavera with shrimp. The pasta was not al dente, the sauce was watery and did not cling to the pasta, and the sauce was bland. No parmigiano was served with the dish, which may have improved it. I ordered crispy chicken tacos. Was supposed to be served with a cabbage slaw, but instead, was set upon a bed of acrid raw onions which dominated my palate. I will say,,that I don't understand how chefs are feeling good about putting out this quality of food. They can do so much better. These were 2 very simple dishes, that are easy to execute properly. This place could be so much better.

Attended a wedding rehearsal donner here March 1st, and was blown away. Often such large groups suffer from harried service, food prepared a little too quickly / rushed, but that was noit our experience. FABULOUS service, superbly prepared salmon (my wife and I) and steaks (most of the other quests), everyone RAVED that this was among the best dinners experienced ANYwhere, in quite some time. Congrats to the owner, chefs/cooks, and serving staff..... this place is a GRAND SLAM of all home runs!!

Newburgh Brewing is one of our favorite destinations. Located on the top floor the view of the river is amazing and the wide open space has something for everyone. You can go there during the day with your family and hang out while having a couple of beers as they have cornhole, fooseball, and tons of board games for the kids. Or, you can go at night and have a great time. Very large tv for watching a game and huge long tables so there is plenty of room. Great place!

Billy Joe's is located on the bank of the Hudson River in the middle of Newburgh's older section. The building is a large, brick, turn of the 20th century ice house that has been retrofitted with several large overhead doors, with transparent panels, that look out onto a large patio on the waterfront. The building's inside is mostly an open floor plan that could probably accommodate several thousand people on summer weekends when the building is really busy.During our visit on a cool, cloudy, October day, only about a 1/4 of the floor had customers so people were spread out. We were seated at the back, near the overhead doors and had a nice view of the ships passing by on the Hudson. We ordered the "Legend" burger, the steakhouse salad, and a mac 'n cheese with pork dish. The salad was very good, with a large portion of sliced brisket on top, and the Legend burger was huge, with sausage, brisket, pulled pork on top of a cheeseburger. The mac 'n cheese dish was also very large and very filling. Most portions would be OK for two people with moderate appetites.Service was very good, food came out quickly, and our sodas were promptly refilled. The manager even stopped by to check on us and told us about a motorcycle museum, located a couple miles away, as we commented about an old motorcycle mounted on one of the walls. All in all, it was an enjoyable lunch in a very memorable décor.

Max's on Main

We had just come from a strenuous 3 hour hike on Storm King Mtn and drove into Beacon in need of some refreshment. Max's was the first place we stumbled on from where we parked. Midafternoon on a Monday, there were a few customers at the bar and one large party. They had a large TV showing some tennis and inexpensive beers. We also did order some hummus and pita. Prices were low, service was very slow with only one bartender/waitperson on staff.
