Things to do in Nelson
Spice Affair showcases the finest Indian cuisine. It is complimented by an exceptional dining experience built with careful attention to all aspects of service and our delightful food.
We went for lunch and ordered two vegetarian dishes and one order of naan bread. The dishes were nicely flavored and the naan bread was good - not at all greasy like some places. There was enough food for the two of us. My concerns are that the veggies in the dishes were rubbery and had that frozen veggie taste and texture and the ambiance was lacking - 12:25 p.m. on a Saturday and we were the only people in the restaurant. They are planning a renovation so hopefully they'll attract more business, but they really need to make sure they're using the best ingredients.Dear Customer,Thank you for your valuable review. As you might know that we opened this place not too long ago, therefore, we were still trying to build an audience at that time. Moreover, we are trying our best to make our customers more satisfied with the food, service, and overall dine-in experience. Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we hope to have an opportunity of serving you again. - Spice Affair Management.
We are a great sports lounge with 8 big screen TVs and 17 beers on tap. We offer daily specials and a tasty food. Open daily from 4pm to 10pm.
No matter what the name of this pub is.....it has changed many times, the service is bad. 3 visits recently and the same server. He canât handle serving groups, long waits, empty drinks, overall bad experience. Food and drinks are good if you ever get them. Hi Lisa, I am sad to hear about your service experience in our Sports Lounge. I would really like to hear more details about the service you received in order to fix and improve it in the future. Please email me at [email protected] or give me a call at the restaurant at 778-463-2236 if you wish to help us and give us a second chance. I would love to hear what happened.I am sorry again that we were not able to offer your a satisfying time in our lounge and I can assure you it is not common for our server to not do the best they can.Sincerely, Gabrielle

Hot, sunny afternoon in Nelson and I was surprised to find this brewery largely empty. Theyâve done a great job with the decor and their handcrafted sodas. Unfortunately all the beers on my flight largely tasted the same: unbalanced, and bitter- like when your roommate starts making beer from a kit. Really disappointing, hope they improve because itâs a great space to hang out in

The Royal Grill and Lounge is located downtown Nelson on historic Baker St. The bar occupies the main floor of a heritage building and is host to some of the best live music in town. Our kitchen has a fantastic menu and is open for lunch and dinner. In th
This place is something else. Really enjoyed the Thursday Open Stage night. Got there a little early, as things didn't really get going until around 9:30 pm. But even before that the 'Host', Estevan, had some good tunes playing away. Estevan is a stand-out part of the evening. He's setting up the multiple instruments and speakers on the impressively lighted and styled stage, manning the sound board, is the go-to guy to get your name on the sched and even pitches in as a sideman of notable quality. His guitar and harmonies added a flair to a couple of the solo beginner-type acts, making them something special. His intent was to make them shine and it worked. About three songs were presented by each artist/group, then it was on to the next. This made for a comfortable pace for all.As the evening progressed, the more seasoned and rollicking performers took the stage. What an array of young and inspired talent there was to be seen and heard - a local said many were from the local college's music program. One group was obviously influenced by The Dead and I think Gerry Garcia had to be smiling broadly from above at their magnificent rendition of an old rock/blues standard. The artists' talent was of high quality, but even more noteworthy was the co-operative effort they all made to create amazing music. When one band would leave the stage, sometimes one or two would stick around to join the next ensemble. You could tell they were all loving it. It seemed like the audience was made up mostly of participants and their retinues and it was a shame that more of Nelson wasn't there to enjoy it. Because what went down was exceptionally great music that ranged from Canadiana to international offerings. One band led by a charismatic Argentinian ("Juan"?) handed out small hand-held percussion rhythm makers that made the audience players significant and enthusiastic contributors to the action.Open Stage at the Royal was a highlight of my BC trip. If I lived in Nelson, I'd make it a point to be there every Thursday night.

We went for the happy hour specials, which have been pared down from what they were about a month ago (think: smaller portion sizes, certain items removed from the menu). But that's standard; often the happy hour portions and menus have a separate menu. It was only a matter of time as I suspect they would have been losing money. The brussels sprouts were delicious ... the calamari was pretty bland and REALLY skint in terms of volume (propped up by a ton of greens). The Thai chicken bites needed more sauce. The nachos were good. Overall your standard pub-food fare, nothing memorable. Wouldn't go back in light of a good dozen other restaurants in Nelson that serve better food. But if you want to be by the lake and have a view, it beats anything else.
