Reviews on Bar food in Moreton-in-Marsh, England, United Kingdom. Moreton-in-Marsh is a town civil parish in northeastern Gloucestershire, England. The town is located at the crossroads of the Fosse Way Roman road (now the A429) and the A44. It is served by Moreton-in-Marsh railway station on the Cotswold Line. The parish and environs are relatively flat and low-lying compared with the surrounding Cotswold Hills. The River Evenlode rises near Batsford, runs around the edge of Moreton and meanders towards Oxford, where it flows into the Thames just east of Eynsham. Just over 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east of Moreton, the Four shire stone marked the boundary of the historic counties of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire, until the re-organisation of the county boundaries in 1931. Since then it marks the meeting place of Gloucestershire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.

Came down for the Gold Cup at Cheltenham and was stopping up the road in one of the hotels. We ventured out to discover the town and came across this place. From the moment we stepped in we were made to feel welcome by both the landlord, bar staff and locals. Thanks too for the introduction to the blackberry gin. I only wish I lived nearer.. only thing to do is book another trip to this fantastic town.

Relaxed informal dining
We wanted to have a nice Sunday lunch and The Bell Inn fit the bill. My husband proclaimed the Roast pork delicious and my fish & chips were excellent. We also enjoyed the atmosphere and antics of the landlordâs dog, a friendly labradoodle. We had stopped at the Black Bear pub across the road, and while I canât comment on the food, the atmosphere was rather boisterous and didnât have that cozy ambiance we were seeking.

With all the laidback charm of a true Cotswolds country pub, at the Horse and Groom we pride ourselves on our friendly service, award-winning food and drink and sumptuous B&B accommodation in individually styled bedrooms. Located in the heart of Bourton o
Our meal was good to average and the service was shockingly slow and with only approx. 10 - 15 covers was unpardonable. We were nort aware of any restaurant difficultries

Just had a lovely meal at the Redesdale Arms but the reception was woefully under par for an upmarket hotel. This is not a pub with rooms. This is one of the best hotels in Moreton-in-Marsh. When we presented ourselves at the " wait to be seated" lectern a girl with a heavily accented voice spoke to us very rapidly. I did not understand a word she said but my wife caught the word "conservatory" .As we had no way of knowing where that was we went to the bar and were then directed to the conservatory. This needs to be addressed by management as this got things off to a very poor start. We were then offered menus with no prices on them which apparently were meant for residents.. When our food arrived we were not offered any sauces (who eats steak and ale pie without English mustard) or asked if we wanted another drink- which I did.I cannot fault the food but the service was way below par.

We called in on our way through the Cotswolds for lunch, staff very friendly and we enjoyed our steak pie and fish pie accompanied by a glass of Hook Norton, lovely old building and outside seating area.

Inside this pretty Cotswold pub, you will find a space to suit every social occasion from cosy corners, a private dining room and a stylish restaurant. Good campsite and 4 hand crafted cabins. Located near Moreton-in-Marsh, The Greedy Goose is the perfect
We went for dinner with friends based on their recommendation. It is a really nice, rustic, popular inn. Whilst the standard of food was very good, we felt the choice of main courses was a little limited( in addition there was only one portion left of their only special). Cheesecake desserts were excellent. It is slightly let down by the standard of the loos- especially the carpet down to the entrance doors. Very friendly and efficient staff. We are grateful to your friends for their recommendation and for your review. Thank you for coming to see us. We have a regular programme of decoration and will continue to refurbish our lovely pub as budget allows. Many thanks for your feedback.

Whilst staying in the village we went for a family meal, pleasant surroundings & staff. Not a massive menu but what is on it is a fair choice, there is a specials board but none of us tried those. Nice choice of beers.

Pub Food, including a range of foreign dishes.
Visited the Black Bear one lunchtime because my family were staying in the town with the benefit of being able to sample the excellent Donnington Brewesy ales. The beer did not disappoint, but the food on offer exceeded all expectations. I had duck, French magret style, a generous portion which was cooked to perfection with an excellent selection of vegetables. Others in the group opted for fish which was well prerpared and came with more than an adequate portion of real chips. This was restaurant food, not the run of the mill microwaved pub grub, so you have to be patient as the meals are freshly prepare by a chef you obviouly knows his trade. But then why be in a hurry? In addiion to the Donnington ales there is a good selection of drinks on offer including some competitively priced wines.

We visited on my birthday earlier in the year as I love scouting out Donnington pubs. I was made to feel extremely unwelcome. Having waited patiently the best part of 5 minutes for the barmaid to cease idle chit chat with the locals at the bar, I noticed she whispered something under her breathe which was aimed in my direction. When she finally did acknowledge me, I asked if they were serving food to which she curtly replied âNoâ. As I left the bar, I heard an older couple enquire about food and I overheard the barmaid offer them a choice of sandwiches! If youâre under 50, donât expect anything less than a frosty reception and appalling manners!I am very sorry that you had this experience here. I have messaged you directly. I would like to offer you a meal. Again I am truly sorry and I have spoken to all staff members Jess
