Hi Thando at La Parada. We had a wonderful introduction to Cape Town on our first day eating in La Parada on the Waterfront in Cape Town one lunchtime. The food here is first class, the lady serving us was called Thando and was so helpful and gave us lots of information on the city and places to visit. We sat and watched the seals playing in the water in the bay. My cousins and I arrived last night at Square Cafe & Wine bar for my pre-birthday dinner celebration. From the moment we walked in, the attending staff (and waiters) gave us weird looks. Once we got a table, a menu was placed on our table but the waiter did not return and we were forced to eat from the buffet. After our meal, we had to flag down what I think is a manager to get us a waiter so that our plates could be cleared and so that we could receive the drinks menu. What a pleasure to list Slug & Lettuce Century City as one of my favorite places to visit, especially with my wife. My wife surprised me with a few hours away from everyone. Just the two of us. We sat outside and I ordered my favourite style, MEZE! I had jalepeno poppers, bbq wings, crumbed mushrooms, sirloin steak strips with chimichurri, three different dipping sauces and a side of drenched cheeeeezy nachos with sour cream and guacamole... oh, and a bowl of fries. (I promise I took a doggie bag. Too much for one, even two people.)My wife had the chicken schnitzel with chips. (Boring, right?) NOPE! This beautiful lady proceeds to assist me with my feast of flavorful foods. She matched her meal with a bite from everything on my side of the table. She even called her order the Willy Wonka Schnitzel. Funny, funny. We sat for a while just laughing and catching up. Periodically our waitron would pop by to make sure everything was on track. There was no hovering, no bothering by staff and no unnecessary loudness. After all it was a lunch hour sitting on Monday, 31 December. Thank you for making my visit so memorable. Thank for making the food so delicious. Thank you, especially, for the birthday Jagermeister shot.

Nicely situated at the beach side, parking possibilities all around. this convenient restaurant ("fast food" like)offers seafoods and other more burger like meals. Fast service, good food in large quantities. Usual drinks and wines. Nice and "no stress" atmosphere. "Take it easy". Very good prices.

Overall 3:Food 3:The overall food was ok. Me and my brother and parents shared all of the food. We had the pizza margarita, fries, Cajun chicken wrap and beef sliders. The Cajun chicken wrap was interesting in the sense that it contain pineapple, which gave it a sweet and savory taste.Service 2.5-3 The service at this place was terrible. We asked the staff several times for ketchup which we never received. They didnât have crushed red pepper to go with the pizza. The food took over 25mins to come out. I had to walk up to the counter several times when I need something like straws or ice. Waiters werenât attentive and maybe came by once to ask if we needed anything which is why I had to walk up to the counter to ask for anything.

There is a variety to choose from the menu. I have been there for breakfast and a few times for lunch. Every time I was happy with the food - tasty and full of flavour. My personal favourites are the flatbreads - THE CHAMP and THE MED. The portion is very filling. What contributes to a pleasant eating experience is the calming environment that overlooks the lake. Moved into the area so decided to give them a try for dinner one night. Definitely not at the top of my list to return too! I have heard that the food is good, but unfortunately when the preference is given to a fast food chain over them, they are missing the plot! In addition to the food being underwhelming, we also found that the staff were not very friendly, bordering on rude.
