Milies (Greek: Μηλιές) is a village and a former municipality in Magnesia, Thessaly, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality South Pelion, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 63.754 km. It is a traditional Greek mountain village, at a height of 400 m on Mount Pelion. It is 28 km from Volos, the capital city of Magnesia. Milies is connected with the GR-34A (Volos - Promyri) It has traditional stone houses, cobbled roads, good restaurants and accommodation in abundance. Milies is also notable for being the terminus of the narrow gauge (60 cm) Pelion Railway, built between 1895 and 1903 by the Italian engineer, Evaristo de Chirico, father of the famous artist Giorgio de Chirico. This proved to be of considerable economic advantage to the region. The recently railway runs between Ano Lechonia and Milies twice a week at the weekend. The village commands striking views across the Pagasetic Gulf and benefits from the many streams and water sources for which Mt. Pelion is renowned. These result in rich vegetation and cool, forested mountain slopes.

Most of Afissos is a pebble beach...this is a lovely sand beach. You can sit out in the sun, under umbrellas, under magnificent trees or under a roof, all on the beach. I would definitely recommend this place when visiting Afissos. Sorry, we didn't eat anything so I really don't know about the menu, but it's still great for drinks.

We visited the Scala Bar Restaurant as a family during the Holly week, for dinner, not drinks. It has an indoor cozy & romantic atmosphere, with low lighting and soft music. Komninos was an amazing host, and person, welcomed us and treated us perfectly. Everything we ordered was really tasty and the portions were as they should. I imagine that when the weather permits outdoor sitting/dining, it must be even more enjoyable, as one can be able to appreciate the landscape, and the lovely view.Thank you for the hospitality â¤ï¸

During the day it is the best place in Afissos to enjoy your coffee or drink! In the night you can have a drink or dinner next to the sea and being served by a very polite and friendly staff.

In the evening the Naftilos immediately stands out amongst the dozen or so bars along the beach front at Kala Nera as the best location for an evening cocktail. Located under a huge plane tree and with nice lighting and music the atmosphere is very relaxing. The selection of cocktails & other drinks is extensive are freshly made, good quality and value.
