The Fettykil Fox in Glenrothes is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales a
Very unfriendly and unwelcoming when we arrived. Asked to sit at the dog friendly area. Staff pointed over there which we then asked which part cause obviously its a big area. The staff then said âwell itâs just here, we donât reserve tables for dogsâ. Which is not what we asked but okay. We then continued to order and the staff came back to tell me I couldnât have my 6 month old puppy on the seat. Which is understandable but the way she spoke to us and the fact I was there few months back and he was allowed. If I had him on the floor he would just wonder about and annoy customer which would be worse. So we decided to leave and she actually asked us what was wrong? Which then we told her. To our surprise she was actually the supervisor. The manager then came out and she was even worse. We come here often which then manager replied âWell I havenât seen you here beforeâ. Before we left she had then said âGood luck in finding a dog friendly restaurantâ. We were so shocked about her comment. They are many dog friendly restaurants/cafes I take my puppy regularly and we chose to come here and have an awful experience. You should NOT call yourself a dog friendly restaurant and I recommend staff training.Gwen L, it's upsetting to hear that you did not receive the top-notch service we strive to provide. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will use your comments to refine our efforts to ensure this issue does not happen again.Team Fettykil

We entered this establishment this morning, around 10.45 on May 2nd, in search of breakfast. The unedifying sight of cigarette ends protruding from the receptacle at the front door almost did for us, but, having been disappointed by our usual breakfast providers, Banners House Hotel - supposedly 'closed for maintenance' - we were desperate. Desperate... and about to be disappointed for the second time in close succession. If there were any staff, after 5 minutes they had failed to appear, and a quick search did not uncover them. Perhaps they are unused to customers at this time of day. Perhaps they do not want customers at this time of day. Bear this in mind if you find yourself in Markinch, and hoping for a Full Scottish.

A traditional country pub with a warm and welcoming open fire . Bar is open on Friday's from 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 4pm. The PLough is now a drinks only pub, however we will occaisionally have promotions such as Quizzes or Fishy Friday. Kepp an
Took two friends with us to revisit the Plough, which I hadn't visited for years. It was better than I remembered it and well worth the detour around back roads to reach it. Super friendly welcome, extensive (but not too expensive) menu from which we all chose different dishes and none of us was disappointed. Their cups of soup of the day were big and hot and excellent value for money.

ROOMS Five rooms all en suite one has a free standing bath in the room, all have spacious walk in showers en suite. Wooden floors with traditional rugs, walls all white, white wooden panelling, all beds king size. Apple tv/music/media system in rooms. USB
Nothing against staff individually, but there was not enough of them and they were so so poorly trained and had no table manners. The food was either over or undercooked, my salmon was so dry, otherwise would have been lovely. Deserts were to die for though, highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding, if itâs still on special!
