My wife decided we needed fish sandwiches. As the Harbourside is not open on Sundays anymore, she went to the Dugout. The staff was very friendly. We had fish sandwiches, onion rings, and broccoli cheddar bites. All the food was okay. Pretty much average bar food, where most everything is deep-fried in the same big frier. At least the fish was real fish and not a mystery patty. I'd go there again. The food iis good, just nothing outstanding

Everyone was friendly enough - bar tender, waitress, etc. But, service was slow, and when we finally got our food, there was a lot to be desired. The scallops were mushy and fishy tasting. The red potatoes weren't cooked completely. The cheesecake started out great, but then I hit the frozen, cold part (more than half). New staff needed in the kitchen. They overcharged us - I'm happy my wife is careful with this sort of thing. So - I might go back again to hang out in the bar (nice bartender). But I'm not going to eat there again.

Friendly staff, always busy, good and consistent food at great prices. Home made soups, good cocktails, pretty good variety of menu items with nice sized portions and home made desserts. Broasted pork chop was large and tasty. Mock lobster had good flavor. Busy place and worth the wait.

We visited here for a quick burger while in town for a short time. The beer was cold and the food was good. Good enough that I asked the meet the grill chef so that I could compliment him personally.

Stopped in shortly before the end of noon rush. The dining area was moderately packed but seated right away by a friendly server. We had a few questions about menu items which she answered and suggested things based on our questions. The food arrived faster than I expected and was cooked perfect. The entire time there, I saw our server attend to other tables with the same patience and kindness she showed us and her attitude and smiling face never changed when she wasn't near customers. Time Out is lucky to have her. Other staff seemed to enjoy their jobs as well. I hope next time I come in, I get the same quality food and the exceptional service provided by MADDY.

For two of us it was about $10. Happened to be game day menu only (burgers, brats, fries) but still excellent. Friendly staff, fun patrons, good service. Overall was quite a good deal

We have been going to Friars for years. For us itâs always been great service, great hot sandwiches/ soups and always consistent. Busy time are 5-7 pm so plan around that but people flow in and out fast.

The menu is unique for sure. You can get some Korean inspired noodle dishes, but you can also get fries and burgers. The service was good. Definitely worth a try if youâre in Manitowoc.

The realm of John Jagemann is in the past. I'll miss his visits to our table. Yes, John has retired and has turned the reins over to a new generation. We were curious to see if, or how much it has changed. Went there last Friday for their fish fry. Our experience certainly did not disappoint us. We had a humus appetizer that was outstanding. We both ordered the perch plate. While the fillets were on the small side, they were perfectly cooked. A side of red potatoes and house made cole slaw were the perfect compliment. Used to be all the waitstaff knew who we were and treated us like royalty. Actually that didn't change. We got there right at our reservation time. The maitre 'd had our requested booth at the ready. A cheerful waitress brought us menus and a young man filled our water glasses. So far so good. Our meals came in perfect time. Our waitress was attentive and checked with us several times. I like having time to finish my appetizers and salad. As we were finishing our fish, our young friend Eric came over to the table for a quick chat. He had waited on us many times through the years. It was good to a familiar face.Bottom line this place is still the best restaurant in Manitowoc. If you want the gamut of a fine dining experience, food, service and ambiance, it would behoove you to check this place out. Make sure you have a reservation.
