We went on a Friday night about 6.30; our 1st visit. Our server, Lotisha was very friendly but seemed to be running all over the restaurant. The cracklins appetizer was excellent; very light, crunchy and no oily feel or taste. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. The service was extremely slow; not sure if it was the kitchen or the lack of servers or both. Even paying for our bill was a long wait. The pulled pork was about at room temperature and the ribs overcooked to the point of being very dry. The mashed potatoes were far from mashed potatoes; more potato pieces with some mash between them. On the plus side, the fries were very good as was the BBQ sauce. Between the disappointing food and long wait to be served; this visit was a completely discouraging experience...not worth repeating.

Located on Bedford Avenue, Small Batch is rooted in a strong history of traditional BBQ. We believe barbecue should be fresh and simple, which is why weâre committed to serving real food to real people. So pull up a seat, sit back and enjoy a damn good se
Our son wanted us to go here and it was for a good reason. This is the best BBQ I have ever had. It had a taste like no other. It was laden with sauce and it definitely wasn't dry. It was just right. It had me at thee first bite. There is sauce on the table but it needed nothing. Nice restaurant and very nice staff. Nothing fancy but clean. We were talking about going back again before we finished eating, This is my favorite place to eat now. Thanks for opening a perfect place to enjoy a good meal. I would recommend it to anyone. We had the pulled pork plate. I can't wait to go back!

My husband and I went there for Lynchburg Restaurant Week. We'd just come from the movie theater so were a bit early for dinner so we sat at the bar and had a couple of beers (it was happy hour so draft beers were only $3 - including local craft beers). The bartender, Anton, was very personable. Once we were ready to eat, we headed downstairs to the restaurant. The bartender down there asked if we had reservations and when we said we didn't, directed us to sit at an unreserved booth. When he brought the menus, he explained that the softshell crab was an option for restaurant week even though it wasn't listed on the menu. My husband ordered them with coleslaw and a side salad ($1 upcharge for the salad). I ordered the 1/3 - which is one jumbo lump crabcake and 3 seared scallops with 2 sides (I got creamed spinach and a side salad too). Appetizers - I got the blackened shrimp cocktail and my husband got the fried calamari. Shrimp (6) were large and were perfectly seasoned. The fried calamari was very tender, lightly breaded, and perfectly cooked. Salads were Ok. Not sure why they felt they were worth an extra $1 -- lettuce, couple of slices of tomato, and a few carrot slivers. Now the seafood entrees--- BEST SEAFOOD I've had inland and even better than some coastal restaurants we've eaten at (and we've lived in Virginia Beach, Charleston, and Savannah). The crabcake was not breaded too much and didn't have a lot of filler like some restaurants like to do. Lots of crab and perfectly cooked. The scallops were superb!! Some of the best I've ever eaten. The creamed spinach was very good as well. For desert, we shared the jumbo ice cream cookie - the perfect end to a near perfect dinner. My rating isn't 5 star and that's because there was a small puddle of water under our table. While I understand that we'd had torrential rains the last few days (and just prior to our arrival) and the restaurant is downstairs, there shouldn't be puddles of water under the tables. We could see where it'd seeped in through the wall so they definitely need some structure repair/sealant. All in all, the great happy hour prices and the EXCELLENT SEAFOOD will keep us coming back.

I was traveling through for work and a coworker sent me to this place. They did well, great food! Fun staff.Word of the wise the side door is the door only walked by it twice looking like what I was an "out of towner".

We've lived in Lynchburg for almost 5 years, and have never been so we decided to finally try it. They had a sandwich board outside advertising two cocktails. When we were seated, there was a table tent with another featured cocktail. An image of the character, Deadpool holding a martini glass in front of a bottle of Aviation gin, with the text "Shaken, no slurred. Ask your server about our Deadpool cocktail!" I was intrigued, so I did. She was clueless beyond that the drink was made with Aviation gin. Great guest service, Megan. I ordered the "Summer Collins" - featured on the outside board. It was not what I expected. Made with coconut water, and lacking anything to cut that sweetness. Not sure who came up with the recipe, it was a disappointment. We ordered the pimento crab dip appetizer, "Red pepper seasoned cheese dip loaded with lump crab & Louisiana hot sauce, served with flat bread & tortilla chips" - Umm. No lumps of crab (we could taste crab, though), NO hot sauce. Not on top, not mixed in that we could taste. The dip was cheesy, but needed that punch of heat. By the time our server came back around to check on us (so we could request hot sauce) we had finished it - we were hungry. We ordered entrees and waited. Our food took FOREVER, though Megan did stop by to continue to tell us that our food would be right out. Really. Coming right out. In a few minutes. When our meals arrived we were satisfied. All the food looked amazing. The portions were BIG for the price. My trout was an entire large fillet, enough for two people, topped with shrimp, scallops, and a lovely crab cake. My daughter's grilled primavera looked lovely and she was happy with it. Hubby got the BBQ mac and cheese. Also a winner. Our food was wonderful. The start of our meal was a bit rocky with the server issues. All three of us took home leftovers. We will likely return.

You may feel like you're entering a speakeasy through our lower level entrance, but you'll know you're home when you sample our brews and burgers. Enjoy our relaxed, warm, but modern dining area for a weekday dinner or weekend celebration.
Bootleggers is popular for a reason! The food is great! But there's almost always a wait. We try to hit it most times we're in Lynchburg, but unless you have the whole evening to spend, you might want to go in the off-hours.Hey friend, thank you so much for being a big Bootleggers supporter! We appreciate your visits and are so glad you enjoy our food. We are looking forward to your return in the future.

I will say of the 4 dishes we had at our table only 1 seemed to be really enjoyed. I ordered filet with shrimp cream sauce (it was more sirloin quality/either over cooked or not a good cut) the sauce and shrimp was good. Husband ordered seafood platter or whatever and crab cakes were mushy, fish was ok, Brussel sprouts were gross-soggy. Friends had sirloin (was ok but dry) but her husbands meal was good. He had the jerk chicken and ate all of his meal and sides. Filet was very disappointing though. Same price as other places and was not the same quality. Artichoke dip and chips were good though- no photos cause kinda disappointing visit. I will still go again and give another try.

Casual dining at its finest. Waterstone fire roasted pizza is not your average pizza joint. Offering the best in fresh ingredients. Appetizers, gourmet salads, pastas, sandwiches, pizza and desserts wash down perfectly with our very own Jefferson Street B
This is our go-to eatery when we are in the Lynchburg area. Over the last few years we have sampled many different pizzas and appetizers, occasionally have room for dessert. Recently we tried a sandwich. For the most part all are quite tasty with only one (recent) disappointment (Mac and Cheesy Pizza - too little Mac and Cheese and just not "there" on the flavor scale). We were at Waterstone three times the last two weekends and each time were disappointed in our service - slow and inattentive. Usually there is a line out the door with a wait for a table, not these times, twice we walked in and were seated right away. Is there something going on we don't know about?Thank you for your review, Melissa! We are thrilled to hear that we are a go-to for when you're visiting Lynchburg! We apologize for the inconsistency in your service over the last couple visits, but we appreciate you writing us about the matter. We'd love to speak with you more personally about your last few experiences with us if you could email us at [email protected]

Eclectic tequila bar serving simple fresh tacos. Located in the heart of downtown Lynchburg! Walk into a restored and repurposed garage, and enjoy a unique dining experience with an open kitchen, friendly bar service, and plenty of deck and patio seating.
After a less than stellar first experience a few months ago (reviewed previously), we decided to return for another try. What a difference! The service was excellent and efficient, and the food arrived quickly/accurately and was excellent. It certainly seems (from my limited sample size of two) that things have improved significantly in the last few months. We will certainly be returning!
