Four of us ate here on Saturday 24th August for lunch we were greeted by the bar lady who gave us menus and explained about the specials she was lovely very friendly and helpful a younger girl came to take our order and was very pleasant too. The food was delicious very fresh hot and tasty very reasonably priced too. It was very busy but had no problem making us fabulous baileys coffees after we ate. We went up to the counter to pay and chatted the bar lady again who told us all about the charity biker festival that was on for cancer and about the September festival and local sites. She seemed busy they both did but still took time to chat. Very welcoming place very clean and great food. 10 out of 10 in all areas especially staff. We will be back sometime to check out all the sites of Clare.Hi Tigue35,thanks for taking the time to leave us the lovely review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and in particular your baileys coffees. We would be delighted to see you back again sometime in the future. Kind Regards, David.

The Matchmaker Bar with nightly music from March till October. Home to the world famous Matchmaking Festival every September. Everybody is welcome.
We were staying at the Imperial Hotel in Lisdoonvarna for 4 nights and one evening we were told by other guests it would be worth our while going through to the adjacent Matchmaker Bar, which comprises part of the hotel, to see the entertainment. This started at 9.00 PM and we got there at 5 minutes past 9 to find the room packed and all the best seats taken. We did get seated but I was behind a pillar for most of the performance. There was one older man and two younger men playing a variety of instuments and two young girls performing the type of traditional Irish dancing made famous by 'Riverdance'. All the performers were very talented. However their leader should note that not all the audience were German, there was a coachload of us from Scotland also staying at the hotel. We were the ones belting out the chorus to 'The Wild Rover' in English!I also enjoyed a pint of Guinness during the performance, the best I tasted in Lisdoonvarna, and not the dearest. All in all it was a pleasant way in which to spend an hour or so and we had no hesitation in putting something into the collection for the performers.

McGann's which has a higher rating than McDermott's was closed, so we went to McDermott's. We are glad we did! It was great! The atmosphere is pure Irish, the food was excellent, the beer cold and the staff friendly. I had the duck, which was maybe the best meal I've had in Ireland, and my wife had the prawns, which she also thought was outstanding. We sipped on a few beers until the entertainment started at 9:00. They were good as well and capped off a terrific evening.A very good spot!

RARELY do I give 5 stars. Rathbaun is pretty terrific. Itâs a family owned and operated and evident through the smiles and genuine concern. The menu is simple yet covered everyone in our group including the vegetarian and vegan. Thereâs live music. Good music. Clap your hands and dance if you wish. Stay here too! Sweet little village near The Cliffs but just far enough so the crowds and prices are reasonable. When I return, Iâll stay here! I had lamb stew last night and seafood chowder tonight. DELICIOUS!
