A classic country pub overlooking the village green. From our gardens you can hear the knock of leather on willow when the Longdon Green cricket team take the field, and we have a real sun-trap of a terrace which is a fine place for a spot of lunch with f
We had a 3 course lunch for 25 people here on a week day. I was concerned that a village pub restaurant might struggle to serve such numbers, but with pre-ordered menu choices the kitchen and waiting staff did an amazing job to bring out so much quality food in a timely fashion. All of the starters mains and desserts were rewarded with positive comments and empty plates. Friendly staff throughout made it a very agreeable afternoon. Thanks to everyone who served us last Friday. Highly recommended venue.

The Malt Shovel is a traditional inn with log fires and located in the beautiful surroundings of Chorley near Lichfield. Offering home cooked food and real ales.Children and dog friendly.
Visited yesterday for Sunday lunch as last year before the management changes we were here most weekends. Iâm so pleased that we have given them another chance as it would appear that following another change in management the food quality and presentation has vastly improved. Sunday lunch was very good. Beef perfectly cooked, choice of potatoes and vegetables. Yorkshire pudding was flat but actually tasted very nice. My other half had fish and chips, the fish was huge and very well cooked. We will definitely return :)

Welcome to the Dog Inn at Whittington. When we began conceptualizing the re-launch of the Dog, we held sensory experience at the forefront of our design. With that in mind we have created an experience for the senses, unrivalled in the local area. From ou
After visiting several times last year and thoroughly enjoying the experience we took friends last week, we realised straight away that something had changed, first the place was empty, secondly the menu had changed completely. We were shown to our table and ordered our meals. Two of us ordered ribeye on a bed of rocket, we received fillet on a lone mushroom, nothing else on the plate. We queried the mistake and eventually the waiter agreed it was his mistake. Having said that the fillet was very good, just not what was ordered. The other orders were for lamb chops on a bed of mash. Again the meat was good, but oh dear the mash completely covered the plate with a ring of oil all around the outside. What a shame, we will not be returning, too many other options around Lichfield.PollyI am sorry to hear you were disappointed we will do everything in our power to please. The menu you experienced was temporary and our new menu goes live on Friday 14th June. Our new menu has many classics with a Mediterranean direction. Mistakes are made and apologize that you felt strong enough to register your issue by media and not personally.. The meats were good by your description and the oil was arguably olive oil but maybe not to your taste. You may have experienced a quieter period on an off peak occasion but we are certainly thriving. I do hope you try us once more and certainly try out the new menu. I will gladly discuss your matter in person if you wish to call me and look forward hopefully to reversing your opinion.

The Angel Inn is a solid traditional pub in Lichfield city centre, affiliated with Joule's Brewing. The company's beers are advertised in many different forms all over the pub and; unsurprisingly, almost all of the beers on tap are from that same brewer (Joule's Pale Ale, Slumbering Monk, Pre Blonde, etc). The décor is very familiar (all dark wood, intentionally kept rustic). The medium-sized pub is divided into several different niches, and there's a small smoking/vaping area to the side. It's very appealing if you dig this traditional style. The barman on my visit was friendly enough, the beer I chose (Ludlow's The Boiling Well) was fresh and tasty. Nothing truly special about The Angel Inn, but it's certainly a fine place to hang out for a couple of pints if you want to avoid more modern brew pubs like the nearby Brewhouse & Kitchen.

Decor great, food ok, but one staff - said he was the manager- spoils it. Rude from the start, slow service ( 1 hour wait for starter despite pre-ordering ), then complains when you havenât left your table within two hours. Heard him complaining about a 90 year old bloke on the next table, for taking too long to walk to his table and getting in the way. Would not go back here if they gave me £1,000 and food for free. Really is that bad.
