Most Popular Bar food in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany

Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Leipzig. It’s always hard to fill the shoes of someone who used to do your job very well. If you’re the choirmaster at St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, guess whose shoes you have to fill? Bach’s. (No pressure.) Leipzig is closely connected to classical music—Wagner was born here, and Mendelssohn established a conservatory here in 1843. If you’re more of a melancholy, contemporary type, visit during the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, billed as the world’s largest "dark" (Goth, industrial, punk, etc.) music festival.

This restaurant was not our first choice, the first one we selected was closed when we arrived, however we chose this for something different.Arrived on a Wednesday evening and there was only one other couple in the restaurant, No English menu's available but that did not matter because the manageress spoke good English and helped us choose our dishes, food was good, beer cold, what more could you ask. They were obviously not used to taking credit cards because the machine did not work and as neither of us had enough Euros we had to walk to the nearest ATM to get cash. The manageress was so helpful and friendly, she was a credit to the restaurant.

This is a nice Irish pub which has a selection of beers and of ciders and a small selection of steaks and other dishes. The food is good, and the serivce is friendly. When I was here on a week-day night, it was not full at all and there was none of the usual noise in such pubs.

Great place and you can have excellent drinks on a good atmosphere. Food side is not the best choice: always the same menu. For one week was possible to have only chili and spaghetti. If you need eat late because at the party there is ok but don’t come there for a dinner.

We ended up eating at Johnathan S. twice as we were very impressed with the quality of the food and service. The wait staff was very attentive and the ambiance quite intimate. We tried several dishes which frankly were all extremely good including a salad (fresh & delicious), wienerschnitzel (tender with fantastic boiled potatoes), pork cheek with creamed cabbage (a highlight) and pike-perch with vegetable melody (light and refreshing). All the dishes are highly recommended. Johnathan S. Is not a typical tourist-trap (they did offer an menus in English). If you are looking for a good German food dining experience this is the spot.

I've never had food here but I will make sure I try it next time I visit. In terms of a place to have a few drinks, it's one of the nicest bars I've been to in Leipzig. The decor is great, it's quite cozy and the service is excellent. There's something very welcoming and appealing about this bar.

Better than your standard Irish pub this well situated pub in the heart of Leipzig is a gem. Surrounded by other bars and restaurants it's definitely one to visit. Sit inside drink the dark stuff , watch sport if you want or sit outside in the spacious courtyard under the heat lamps it's up to you. Serves burger type meals as well. Unspoiled like some nice cities by hen nights, enjoy it whilst you can.

We specially came back here one afternoon after deciding that the cake trolley looked the best of any we'd seen anywhere in the town centre - and they do look good. But they taste awful - the cakes we had were stale and dry - it's a bit of a cheek that they would even still serve them. Perhaps it was because we were there on a weekend afternoon, but anyway there is no excuse for serving tired food. The tea was ok, the service was ok - but we were disappointed.

We went to this restaurant based on TA ratings, as well as handiness to our apartment (Apartments Central Leipzig - Highly Recommended!). Frankly, it was somewhat of a disappointment. In retrospect, reading the reviews for this place, it looks like it makes its name based on the bar, not necessarily the food. Not that the food was that bad; but the difference in portion size for two entrees of similar price was profound. My entrée, the special, was so large I could hardly finish it without feeling overstuffed. On the other hand, my wife's chicken was very flavourful, but in any other restaurant would be considered a small appetizer. Trendy it is, and if that's your thing, have at it. We won't be back. I will say that the service was friendly, but for the price we paid, and given the smaller entrée, there are better alternatives to be had.Hi Larry and thanks for your Feedback.Hope to see you soon again, to see whats working better
