Last minute booking for dinner for family of four. Very accommodating and allowed the dog into part of the restaurant. Not a massive choice of options but sufficient for us to have a choice. Food was tasty, good portion size and tasted like it was freshly cooked and not prepared. Price was on the high side of reasonable, £96 for 4 mains, 2 side salads and a round of drinks.

While staying at The Great Glen Hostel, the manager told me about this place. Its about a 40 minute walk from the Hostel through the most magical forest - full of ancient trees, mossy rocks and tree roots, beside the waterways connected to the Lock systems. I felt like a child expecting to be visited by the fairies of the area. Eventually the track opens up to the Laggan Lock system where various different water vessels were docked. In the evening twilight, the sky was mirrored in the water, enhancing the already magical mystery tour and I wandered around taking it all in for about 20 minutes. I was delighted to find the Eagle Barge moored beside the walking track, so of course I entered via the stairs down the the water level where the homiest bar welcomed all visitors. I had a chat to the lady behind the bar (sorry I forget your name), and she told me that her and her partner were purchasing the novel bar from his parents. While I didn't eat there, I really enjoyed the camaraderie of the people and the atmosphere was a complete sensually engaging experience. Id encourage anyone in the area to wander down the forest path and experience this awesome Bar. It brings a smile to my face every time I think of it. I took a friend there the next evening and we both loved being there.Thankyou for such a lovely, magical and in depth review. We hope you can come back and enjoy it all again.

Want the very best fish and chips EVER while enjoying a wonderful, cozy pub? The Lock Inn is the place. My friend and I enjoyed chatting with fellow pub goers over a few beers and had resigned ourselves to generic fish and chips. We were blown away at how perfectly the fish was cooked. The batter was light and delicious and non-greasy. The servers were nice and offered travel tips. Being a dog lover, I was happy to see a few canine friends at the pub. Nancy many thanks for your positive review, glad you and your friend enjoyed your visit to the lock inn, hopefully you will come back and visit us again

We visited on a very hot day and this was the quietest of the places around the canal. I had scampi and chips my husband fish. It was served very quickly too quick for it to be fresh. It was plain pub grub the side salad was a nice addition but itâs not a gastro pub if youâll looking for plain pub food this is for you if you want something special eat elsewhere
