We stopped here for a quick lunch whilst travelling South and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The staff, who were friendly and loved to dote on the dogs, showed us to their dog friendly lounge which is beautifully decorated and spacious. We imagined having to eat outside so the dog friendly area was a huge plus for us. The food arrived within a satisfactory time and we had no complaints in regards to the quality. The chips were particularly tasty! The only downside was that there was very little on the menu for the celiacs in our party to choose from. Overall lovely stop and perfect for dog owners.

Had an evening meal here as we were staying in the village in a holiday cottage. Rang during the day to pre book a table as everywhere seemed busy with the lovely Easter weekend sunny weather. Arrived to find the pub extremely busy as the Newcastle football match was being screened live. We had been told this when booking so made the reservation towards the end of the match. The bar area was busy and had to wait a short while to get shown to our table. We ordered our food which came quite quickly given how busy it was. Food was standard pub food. Steak for my husband and Scampi for me. We ate and left as even though the football had finished it was just too crowded and noisy. Staff were helpful and friendly though.

We only called in for coffee purely because we saw that it advertised a "dog only" room. Orders had to be placed at the bar in the main part of the hotel and when our drinks were brought down they were accompanied by biscuits for our dog. How's that for service (which, by the way, was also quick and brought by a friendly person who made a right fuss of our dog). Looking at the menu, there was a good choice and there were plenty of Gluten Free options. This pleased my wife, as she is Gluten Free. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to stay for a meal but next time we are in Bamburgh, we certainly will.

We found The Crown and Anchor by mistake when we were walking down to the back of Lindisfarne Priory and I am glad that we did. First of all it was dog friendly but, as the sun was shining, we decided to sit in the garden. There was an excellent choice on the menu and my wife's Gluten Free diet did not cause any problems. She had Fish and Chips and I had a "Ploughmans". Bothe were excellent and plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially considering that they were very busy. There was also a good choice of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Would certainly return here at any time we are in the area.

We ate here on our 2nd night stay on Holy Island and it was the best meal we had on our 4 night mini break in Seahouses/Holy Island. The lasagne was absolutely delightful and so was the home made rum and raisin ice cream, wish I had 2 scoops instead of only 1. I tried a local beer here and it was nice but then decided to go for my favourite beer, Belhaven Best. They also make the Lindisfarne Gin at this pub and my wife had this and said it was really nice. Would certainly eat here again if we returned to Holy Island. They only downside, is that booked the previous day but when we arrived they had put us down for the next night when we would have returned home. They did find us a suitable table as my wife has mobility problems at the moment.
