A nice cosy, friendly local pub, that offers a good selection of beers, wines, spirits etc. Nice friendly staff , the place was clean and comfortable. We went here for a quiz night , and the buffet was great. A nice local pub. Parking may be a problem, but just walk or get a taxi. Dont drink & drive.

Ive always liked this pub, Ive been going there thro various landlords and it hasnt lost its character. the beer is top quality and prices normal. Seating is available outside and it is a great place to wait for the missus while she shops in Morrisons!

It all started when my mum in a wheelchair and me came in at 8am. She came through the doors and skidded. She then when to turn to go to the bar and pay but before she could turn the waitress shouted at her over here now in a stern voice. We have been to lost of Tobyâs and know where you have to pay for breakfast. So we went to the bar and paid for 3 breakfast. We went up and got our food but when we got to the eggs they rock hard. They had four trays out all covered up. They were all rock hard it food hygiene not to have that amount out at 8am. When my disabled mum asked can the chef lift the lid on a pot he went no your get what is there already not ones that are covered up. Which is very rude and too a disabled women. Then after I went up to get my food and picked up potatoes covered in cheese but I am allergic to onions. There was no signs saying that onions were in it even when I asked staff and the chef they said there was no onions but as I sat down I cut the potatoes open and realised that the whole lot of potatoes were covered in onions underneath the cheese. When I said that it is covered in onions they shrugged there shoulders and went oh well now you know. I could of died due to staff incapability to know what was in their food they were serving. It was disgusting service and attitude.Hi Harry P, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent experience. We are disappointed to hear that you are not satisfied with your visit. as a management team we will sit down and discuss these issues and retrain where necessary

A group travelling for work chose to eat here. How I wish we hadnât.While the food was fair quality for the price the service was so slow and I only counted 11 people in the restaurant. To be fair to the staff there were other tables outside and the same kitchen and staff were servicing them. But it was soooo slow, there was no engagement or rapport or anything other than rudimentary waiting skills displayed.I also believe itâs the first time Iâve ordered steak and no one asked me how I wanted it cooked! That will tell you how basically wrong the service was.If you go, eat outside and pick something simple like ham, egg and chips or a burger. Also give yourself a long time to be served each course.

We are a family run business offering traditional home cooked food, we love for you to come and join us.
Three times we have called here for lunch and always there has been nowhere to sit and eat. There is a large room to the right of the pub but it always seems to have some sort of function going on and is closed off. The rest of the pub only has 3 tables which always seem to be in use. Disappointing.Hello there Really sorry you've been disappointed on your visits, due to the pub being busy I would suggest always ringing before come to book a table. This can be done via the telephone or on email via the website. Lets hope we accommodate you next time. Thanks Jo and Colin Oldham Managers

Kingfisher bar & restaurant is a family run business serving good food & drink at great prices with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.we serve food 5 days a week and are open 7 days a week for drinks with various things hoping on throughout the week includi
We recently stayed in a local camping site and spent our final evening at the Kingfisher after looking at what was locally available. Walking in you immediately feel that local pub atmosphere, welcoming staff, the regulars who smile and greet you and even a parrot!Long story short, the food was great with a wide selection on offer and friendly staff to top it off. Thanks Kingfisher - we will definitely be back!

This is my second review for Porterhouse and unfortunately it hasnât improved. It has been two years since our last visit so we thought we would give it another go for lunch and we wish we hadnât. Both my husband and I ordered a sirloin steak. His well done (which is so wrong in my book) and mine was medium. The food arrived and we tucked in... only to find mine was over cooked. I informed the waiter who apologised and asked if I wanted another. Obviously I said yes - whilst waiting for my food I continued to eat my chips and side dishes. Eventually my 2nd steak arrived and was cooked perfectly the shame was by now I wasnât that hungry but did manage it. When we asked for the bill he asked how our meals were. I was in the ladies at this point so my husband informed them that my 2nd steak was perfect and his was ok but not great. When we received the bill we had only been charged for one round of drinks. Not sure if this was a gesture of goodwill or they had forgotten to add our 2nd drinks so we didnât say anything. Will we think of giving it another try.... absolutely not!

Popped in here after a visit to the beach. Only stopped for a pint but the food looked really good too. Staff were all immaculately dressed and very polite and helpful. Clean toilets too. The decor is lovely and wasn't what we were expecting when we went in. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Went out with the wife on Saturday night and we fancied a meal so just rocked up here on spec and were told to wait about 15 minutes for a table, no problem, the guy returned a few minutes later and said it would be 20 minutes instead and offered a drink on the house! great service. The meal was brilliant, I had whitebait for starters which was as good as any I've had anywhere, the Hunter's chicken for mains was similarly great. Must mention the guy who served us as he was excellent and it makes such a change from the usual kids on front of house who don't have a clue. Will definitely return! £42 for 2 including drinks and starters.
