The Holdy is one of our âlocalsâ and as such, we have seen the highs and the lows there over the last couple of decades. The dining room is a great space and the kitchen does a pretty good job, most times. And most of the time, the service is very good.Food and service were both spot-on for most recent visit.Easy parking, choice of 3 spaces to dine in and a menu thatâs as good as most.Overall, concisely good, and better than many of the local competitors.

After the movies in Glenelg, we decided to go to lunch and The Holdy is close. We chose a table out of the way and looked at the menu. They have a regular menu, a Chef's Special menu and a Senior's menu, too many choices! One of my friends selected the Lambs Fry with bacon, very old dish but because she doesn't cook it anymore, she decided to order it and she said it was delicious. My other friend had Fish of the Day and chips, she opted for grilled rather than battered and was pleased with her meal too. I decided on another old style item, crumbed loin lamb chops with mashed potatoes and although very tasty, they were difficult to cut.I have been to The Holdy before and will definitely go again.

A familiar family favourite, if we are eating at Glenelg, is The Rocks and Pantai at Glenelg Pier. The environment in the two restaurants is consistently excellent and the views of Gulf St Vincent, particularly at sunset, are absolutely picturesque. Service is always at a high quality as well.We visited The Rocks on Sunday afternoon. I sat on the wall couch near the window. The seat was exceptionally satisfying and comfy; however, I personally didn't have the best view of the sea. Generally Pantai has better views. You can still have The Rocks menu at Pantai, as the staff are used to this happening. As usual, service was very good. Staff are always friendly and respectful. I have never had a bad experience with their staff. We did have a slightly longer than expected wait for our main course after our entree. This restaurant does cater for Uber eats as well as Room Service for the Glenelg Pier hotel, which appeared to be doing a booming trade tonight, which probably contributed slightly to the delay. The delay was not excessive and did not take anything away from the overall experience. Now; for the most topic, the food review. For our entree we shared the Arancini entree serve. This was really delicious. I loved the way it was served and am kicking myself for not bringing my phone to take a photo. The Arancins themselves were lovely but I really loved the Aïoli and dill sauce. For my main cause I had the Crispy Skinned Barramundi. This was served on top of a beautiful salad and Japanese Pumkin. The Barramundi was lovely and tender and the dressing was tangy and all in all really nice. Presentation of both meals was excellent. My father said that his squid was also excellent and he would recommend that.Once again, I was really impressed with The Rocks and will certainly be back to our favorite; and most frequently visited restaurant in Glenelg. Well done The Rocks at Glenelg Pier!

We went to Hogs Breath tonight because it reopened, the previous incarnation had slowly lost us with poor quality meals. The starters were excellent except the crispy bacon that was sloppy. The main Salmon was really good, the steak when it arrived was impressive very big, we quickly realised the size had made it undercooked, it didnât get eaten, I waited for the waitress who seemed new and let her know the issues, she apologised and asked if we wanted it cooked some more, she was a nice young girl, I know from later in the meal that she had passed our concerns on, as when I went to pay I told the hipster that we were not happy with the meal, he said Oh thatâs sad, then one of the waitress come up and said we are checking your issues with the kitchen, this is where they fell down.1. They had the chance to come to the table to sort.2. They had the chance to save the customer or offer discount.Let me make it clear we are not returning, but because of the poor customer service the food issues are sometimes beyond their control, how the management follows up needs to be consistent and professional.Outcome they lost a fortnightly customer of $150 to $200.They need to learn quick or they will go the way of the previous owner quickly.

It is so hard as a vegetarian (and vegan) to go out to a pub and order something other than chips and salad, or a vegetable stack. Finally we can go out to a pub which offers a selection of good-quality vego/vegan food.If you have a vegan friend, you can be assured they won't be stuck with boring food. Meat eaters might even be tempted to try the vegan prawns, or vegan spaghetti bolognese. Actually, if vegans order the bolognese for their meat-eating friends, they may not even be able to tell the difference.Thank you to Broadway Hotel for catering so well for vegos. You are leading the field in alternative food options, especially in Glenelg. By the way, the staff are all very helpful and friendly.Thank you very much for your review. We are so glad that you had a great experience at our hotel.Your endorsement of our business is very much appreciated and we are glad that there are people like you out there that appreciate the time, effort and thought that goes in to catering for everybody.Look forward to having you back in again soon.RegardsMark(Owner / Manager)

Interesting retro deco, great view of the square. Friendly staff. Menu offers variety, but our choices were uninspiring. My Nemo Burger was overall dry, with small fried flathead fillets and a bit of salad. I requested some tartare sauce and this made the burger and chips must tastier. My partnerâs anti-vegan burger got the thumbs up, although the steak was thin and a bit chewy. Unless you have a voucher, the burgers and drinks are pricy.

We came here 6 years ago and it was amazing. Today we ordered natural and Kilpatrick. The natural were great. However the Kilpatrick were disgusting. There was a really thick and sour sauce that beared no resemblance to worchestshire. Also the oysters under this sauce were ridiculously tiny. Hi Michelle I, Thank you for taking the time to review Oyster Bar Holdfastshores and also welcome back! We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your natural oysters however are disappointed to hear your feedback on our Kilpatrick oysters. I have passed on your feedback to our kitchen and management team who will use your comments to improve product and quality control. All feedback, positive and constructive, goes towards our staff training and should you return to us again I am confident that you will not be disappointed.

Took the husband to the Festival of Food experience at the Moseley for his birthday. Was a bit worried that the main meal may be sample size and not enough food for him. However, the food was all wonderful and the main course was enough to satisfy the husband. Really enjoyed the afternoon and am considering doing it again. Keep up the good work! Thanks for the fantastic review! We're so pleased you enjoyed your afternoon with us and look forward to seeing you next time.
