The Blackbirds is part of the Greene King Local Pubs brand. Our pubs are high-energy, upbeat and focused on providing quality food, local ales and fine wine. Whether youâre a nearby resident or a tourist enjoying a day out, our pubs are welcome pit stops
My family booked a table as we were a large party. My mother is vegan so we were happy to see a vegan menu, however only one thing was available, a burger which she left as was too spicy for her taste. The fajitas were disappointing. 5 pieces of hullomi and two bits of lettuce for the salad. My sister in law had chicken and hers was the same. When we asked if we were getting anymore salad for the wraps the waitress put her hand up and said she was stressed! The wraps were the small ones I get for my child. The chips are oven chips which was disappointing. We knew as we were a large party we may not get the food altogether but some people were half way through before others got there meal. Plates were left for a long time even though the restaurant was not overly busy. The ice cream we ordered says three scoops my daughter had one and the brunette waitress apologised and changed it straight away (only good service we had) my sister went to complain to the bar about the experience to be told I wish you had booked to come in earlier? We booked and turned up at 5pm which I think is early enough for an evening meal. Fair to say we shall be avoiding the establishment in future Amtuttifrutti, we work hard to provide a fantastic experience to everyone. So it's really disappointing to see that we clearly missed the mark this time. Thank you again for taking the time to let us know how we can improve. We hope you will consider us again in the future. Take care.

Ampthill's most exciting food project. We believe that burgers shouldn't just be relegated to the realm of 'fast food' - so we've taken a new approach. High end, top quality ground in-house beef patties that will change the way you think about burgers.
We went as part of a group for a friends birthday. We sat down not long after two other large parties who ordered before us, however this didnât affect our wait for service or our food. The staff are attentive yet also laid back, which isnât an easy thing to achieve. The food is amazing, I had the chicken burger and shared some onion rings, I can honestly say itâs the best chicken burger Iâve had. The onion rings are also phenomenal! I have a good appetite, yet I couldnât finish my chips as the portion size is generous . Our party was of 7 and not one person had an issue or complaint with their food. All round excellent food, service and prices. The decor is also really well done. Definitely highly recommended!

Once an 18th century coaching inn, The White Hart in Ampthill is situated in the north of the Georgian market town. This historic Grade II listed building, which may date back as far as the 16th Century, continues to be a prominent destination in Ampthill
Friendly welcome, great bar, amazing dinners and breakfast both nights/days. Treated myself to full English but didn't feel as guilty as not greasy and all good quality items. Hotel room cracking. Please note that it is a pub and you are living above it so don't book hotel then complain about the noise, it's a given, embrace it !! Thank you for the fab rating and insights, it is much appreciated! We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the food!We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future!ThanksTina

I came for a quiet meal on a Friday night and was disgusted with the landlady, who was not working at that time. She was sitting at the bar, drinking vast quantities of alcohol and verbally abusing the other patrons.I found this behaviour abhorrent and had no option but to leave my meal and exit the pub.I certainly do not recommend this establishment, especially if the landlady is not working!Lucky R, it's upsetting to hear that you did not receive the top-notch service we strive to provide. We would like you to know we have investigated into this matter and found that the landlady was actually working on all the Friday nights during August when you have stated you visited, no persons are allowed to sit at the bar on stools either.

The George Inn is a 16th century pub in the Bedfordshire countryside that has been lovingly restored. Our menu takes in satisfying and unpretentious dishes made fresh by our chefs such as Honeyed Beer Battered Haddock & Chips and Roasted Butternut Squash
Top notch breakfast which rivals Knife and Cleaver locally. The waffles could be a bit fresher, not sure on those, although served with great crispy bacon and syrup. The thing that really makes the difference is the way they react when things go wrong; our ticket got lost. Took ages to get food. But the way they dealt with it was really impressive, even some unrequested money off vouchers for next time.Hi SimonInWhitstableThank you for your review, we appreciate your comments & feedback.I apologise for the inconvenience, disappointing and not at all ideal however I am pleased you were impressed with how we dealt with the situation. We would love to welcome you again soon, perhaps try our our 'Wine Tasting Event' held in our 'UPSTAIRS' private room this October 30th and November 20th.Thank you againGeorge Team

average food, average 'old' pub, never been before and won't rush back. Not many people in, those that were in other from us were obviously workman using workmans language, not really what you need to hear when you are sitting down to lunch with you partner. Not the pubs fault, but it is what it is.

" Beautiful village pub serving the best of British food with a French twist. Try our signature Boeuf Bourguignon with baby mushrooms and bacon lardons, served the proper way. Or favourite Cumberland pork sausage ring with cider gravey, caramalised onions
Bedfordshire has long lacked a venue that serves French cuisine which is both authentic and affordable..........then the new management came to the French Horn. The first time I went to the French Horn I was probably 8 and I am now 52 so have experienced many of the ' dining phases' this beautiful building has been host to. In my opinion - Richard and his team (to include a clearly very talented chef) has really got it right, I ate there last night with family. There are two 'fish' nights - and Saturday is one of them - although the full menu is also available - so fear not pescaphobes! For the first time in over 30 years - I had frogs legs! (Not everyone's cup of tea but they are certainly mine and they were fab!) The rest of our party enjoyed a mix of standard a la carte and fish specials - and we were all replete, delighted and already talking about coming back. The wine list is just the job - good choice and a range of price that means a nice bottle is accessible for the majority, The service was great - attentive but informal. The dress code is basically 'whatever' within reason so you can drop in after a dog walk and eat from the menu, sit in the bar (at a comfortable) table with dog in tow. I really, really loved it and my husband (who is part French) was over the moon to find a proper French Onion soup! Try it - I loved it!

The Chequers is a great Pub in the heart of Westoning, just off Junction 12 of the M1. A great place to eat, drink and relax. No pool tables or fruit machines just good old fashioned pub values with a quality food offering.
I have visited this pub restaurant many times and always been extremely satisfied. However my visit on Saturday with my wife left a lot to be desired. Our table was booked for 7.45pm when we arrived we were shown to our table no problem, ordered drinks that were delivered quickly, however this is when the service deteriorated, it took 20 minutes to take our order I had to call the waiter over to take the order , I ordered a carafe of white wine when it arrived it was not chilled, we asked for it to be replaced, there was no apology just a replacement plonked on the table. It then took 15 minutes to receive our starters. For my main I ordered The Swordfish which came with a salad, I asked when ordering does it include potatoes to be told by the member of staff it didnât so I ordered a side dish of chips. When the salad arrived it came with potatoes I asked for the cost of the chips to be taken off the bill. The food as always was of a good standard but the service extremely disappointing.Ruby was the only member of staff that seemed to focus on a good customer service. To summarise not my best visit to The Cheques.

Always consistent, always delicious food. Sunday lunch this time. We were at a bar table as they were very busy in the restaurant but still as lovely. Whitebait starters for my other half and daughter, pickled quails egg and bacon off the much welcome nibbles board for me. Then Roast Beef for me and the other half - perfectly cooked, alas no Gluten Free yorkies though so sat slavering over everyone elseâs. Chicken great too.....lovely place, pretty village location, smashing staff, simply lovely. Thank you.
