We have frequented Hop Angel on numerous occasions for dinner and lunch. It's my go to place for authentic German food. Sauerbraten, schnitzel, warm German potato salad, spatzle - all excellent. My fellow diners had the NY strip on this night. It was a quality piece of steak that they both enjoyed. I had the onion soup for the first time - just OK. Server handled several special requests regarding side dishes without problem. Service usually very good. Prices are reasonable. Beer selection always excellent. It gets a good local crowd during the day, families in evening, TV sets even in dining area. Therefore a typically boisterous atmosphere. Will continue to visit.

Love the location and the food! Had the chili and flatbread last night. The chili was delicious with just the right level of spice. The Margherita flatbread was also delicious and just the right portion...melry cheese too. Dinner was topped off with the flourless chocolate cake - wow, it's great! The cake wasn't too dense like some can be...it was just right.

In 1921, Rose McNally opened "McNally's Quick Lunch" in a small corrugated steel building at the trolley turn atop the highest hill in Philadelphia. In 1927 Rose and Hugh purchased one of the new buildings just across the street and moved the Quick Lunch.
We ordered the special which was the Cuban sandwich and black bean soup. The sandwich was decent with a side of potato chips but the black bean was totally bland and watery. We added salt and pepper but it didnât change much. That was very disappointing. The sandwich was decent but Iâve had much better. The coconut cake was just okay but wouldnât order it again. The staff is very friendly thatâs why I hated to give ab average review but I had to be honest. I will not return again as the food was very forgettable. Too many better places to eat. The inside of the restaurant is very small and tables are really close together. It was hard to move around as you were in the other tables faces; and it was very noisy. Not a place to meet a friend that you want to have a conversation with. W if youâre going to sit and use your phone to text. I couldnât understand why the great reviews.

Stopped in Sunday afternoon because friends said to try it. Friendly, bar atmosphere. Food selections were unimaginative. Prices were outrageous - chicken salad wrap $13 with no accompaniment. Side of fries $5 - flat tasting. Pub was crowded and noisy with folks seeming to enjoy themselves. I thought $40 for two people for sandwiches and one order fries and one iced tea was pretty high for ordinary food.

This not a restaurant because their menu don't have much stuff to fill you up but if you want to hangout and have a little this is the good place to go

New American cuisine prepared in a scratch kitchen, paired with an on-site brewery producing fresh, award-winning beers, all in a friendly, comfortable atmosphere. Happy Hour specials available Monday-Friday from 4pm-6pm. Reservations are accepted for lun
We were there this past Saturday evening with my husband's parents to celebrate his upcoming 50th birthday. We made a reservation through Open Table and were seated promptly when we arrived. Our server was really wonderful and was very courteous with us. Our meals were all very good and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Both my husband and father-in-law ordered the Jaegerschnitzel, my mother-in-law ordered the Pan-Fried Pennsylvania Trout and I had the Mediterranean wrap. Both my husband and father-in-law ordered soup, as well, and enjoyed that, too.The noise level got to be a little high at times but that is understandable on a weekend.

Apparently it's a secret only known to regulars and locals because there's nothing on their site about reservations. I had checked both their site and open table (of which they are not members). We stopped for dinner prior to a show at the Keswick but we were told that reservations were necessary on show nights, and there were no tables available (and at that point 99% of the tables were empty). The hostesses were rude. We will take our business elsewhere in future.

Met up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while, and I suggested this spot since it's one of my neighborhood places to have a good time. I usually get the same thing all the time from here, but decided to try something different. Wanted to get the buffalo chicken wrap, but I don't do spicy foods like that. So I asked our waitress how spicy is it. She gave an honest opinion in that sometimes it's really hot, and then sometimes it's not so hot. So I was bummed because I really wanted to try it, but didn't want to experience the "really hot" . LOLOur waitress suggested getting grill chicken, and she would let the chef know not to add anything hot to it. Cool that worked for me, plus I still got to order my brussel sprouts....the meal comes and I take a few bites after adding ranch dressing, and my mouth is on fire. The waitress comes over to see how we are enjoying the meal, and I'm like this has my mouth on fire. She indicated that she had explained to not put anything hot in it, and offered to take it back, and have another one made. When she came back with a new one, she explained that even though she had stated nothing hot, a little something got into it. The second one was great. the manager also came over to the table to make sure that the second order was to my liking, and it was.

we enjoyed walking from friends' house for Sunday evening specials. the amber ale was good, the wings were meaty and flavorful, and the clam chowder was full of clams and just-right creamy (not too thick). yes, it's small and crowded and noisy, but even sitting at the high table near the bar we were able to have conversation without shouting. all the TVs on same game. nice staff

Overcooked burgers, tasteless tacos and bland corned beef sandwiches. Cute waitresses only go so far when the kitchen is this bad. Maybe you need to pretty loaded to enjoy the food here but the last 4 times here, we were underwhelmed. And it's not cheap either. Go to Grub in Willow Grove for a much better burger.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review BobZielinski. We are sorry that we missed the mark on your last visit. We will share your thoughts with our staff to ensure that next time you experience the 5 star food and service we are known for. We appreciate your business and hope you give us another try soon.
