Recommended to eat here by the B&B we were staying in locally. So good, we came back the second night! Light, spacious dining room. Reasonable variety of dishes on the menu. But proper cooked-in-the-kitchen food. First night I had a steak and ale pie - I bet you've never seen a puff pastry top like this one (see photo)! Delicious. Real mashed potatoes too. Second night I went for the surf and turf and the steak was cooked to perfection and gristle free - fabulous. Portions generous, prices reasonable. Service? Excellent! Thanks to each of the waitresses, both evenings. Oh and special thanks to hard working Chef Alison who came out to see if everything was OK. Thank you all very much. had mushroom Benedict .cold food on a cold plate Watched the waitress wonder round the whole pub with no idea of table numbers.No service behind the bar, had to call them in the kitchen!

Booked a table for two no children in tow for a change which was ready on time.we both had the carvery which we both enjoyed The soup was a bit watery but could not fault the dinner . Overheard a couple complaining about the beef which prompted me to write this review. The beef was just right as it was on the other occasions we've been here as was the Turkey and the rest of the carvery Itâs great to hear about your experience at Victoria Park. Our aim is to serve up great memories for all of our guests. We will ensure your feedback is shared with all of our team. I've been using the Hobby for around 12 years for good English pub food. However haven't had a Sunday lunch for sometime there until today but my son who goes there for Sunday lunch asked me to come and I was not disappointed. We both had beef lovely and tender plus very tasty. Good selection of fresh veggies carrots,peas,cabbage,cauliflour cheese, roast & new potatoes. I would say this place is the best in Brynmawr for Sunday lunch. Thanks to Julie, Mark and all the staff for providing us with a lovely relaxing Sunday lunch time meal.Gavin & Mr Awkward.

Looks like if u leave a bed review your doing something wrong here sorry but thatâs what reviews are for if u had a good or bad experience ..... deal with it make it better castle inn Well here goes firstly you expect a good value meal When your paying top money for a pub meal well We didnât get that either service was also terrible And agree with others if your a local here your welcomed but anything else donât bother Place looks ok from outside but thatâs is Food was awful cold small portions drinks were off too Again the biggest dissatisfaction was food Needs looking at

A large birthday meal with 29 guests. All the food was served mostly together and with no complaints. Curry and the sirloin steak were excellent and superb value for money. Top place highly recommended.
