We use Brinsley lodge quite a lot and would recommend to anyone but last night was horrendous for me. We took some friends for my 60th birthday the place was not busy at all only 6 tables in use but sat an hour waiting for our starters had to send mine back as it was cold then sent the replacement back because the camembert had nothing inside it. So I sat and watched everyone else eating theirs this was made worse as I am diabetic and had my insulin when we ordered the meal ( have to take 15mins before eating) after waiting an hour for the starters I was getting desperate for something. We got no apology just the bill for over £100 but at least they took off my starter from the bill. So not a good start after raving about the place so much to our friends.Hi, thank you for reaching out. I am the general manager at Brinsley Lodge and was working the evening you came for your meal, I am sorry to hear that you didnât enjoy your 2nd starter that we prepared, so i and your waitress did apologise and we removed it from the bill, the camera show you waited 25 mins for your starters and after your starters were cleared (after the rest of the party had finished), you waited 5 minutes for your main meals, in such you said your thoroughly enjoyed. If we were made aware that you needed your food a while quicker due to health reasons we would of tried our best to get it to you as quick as possible, as we do try to look after all our guests here. It is no excuse, but at the time of ordering, there were about 6 tables in the restaurant, how ever they were another 15 tables down stairs all ordering food from the same kitchen. We do try to rectify all complaints on the occasion and can only apologise it put a dampener on your experience with us. Kind regards.

We spent a weekend at the Hogs head. It was very friendly and clean. The room was very comfortable and the on-suite was spacious. Although we were above the function room you could not hear any noise. The breakfast was very filling and a good choice was available. The evening meals were of excellent quality and plenty of it at very reasonable prices. We definitely would stay again.Janine and Paul. A warm welcome to the Shepherds Rest, Bagthorpe We are a delightful 17th Century Inn located in one of the hidden valleys of Nottinghamshire. If you like the old traditional pub atmosphere with a great selection of homemade meals and award winning cask ale
After a disappointing experience at the Red Lion, we arrived at the Shepherdâs Rest quite hungry and rather peeved...!!What a wonderful warm welcome from the hosts who immediately found us a table, gave us menus and took our drinks order. They have their own recipe sausages made at a local farm and I thoroughly recommend them. Fabulous. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and would definitely return.Thank you!

I went to Oliver's for the first time for Lunch with a couple of friends. The staff where very friendly & welcoming. The food was excellent, 2 of us had freshly cooked cod in light crispy batter, peas & hand cut chips. Our other friend had the pie which she said was equally as good. It was 2 for £10 & drinks £2 we couldn't believe the excellent value for money for the quality of the food. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try homemade deserts which sounded tempting, next time we will.

This place looked no different when we visited than it did when I lived in Eastwood 30 years ago. The restaurant still looks like something out of the 1950s, with dirty carpets and an all pervading smell of beer and stale chips. The food is cheap, but the whole experience is somewhat cheerless, and given the number of eateries / pubs Eastwood now offers, the brewery really should look to either spend money on updating the place - even if only bringing up to the standard of the 1980s - or closing it down. The staff do what they can with what they have, but the whole place exudes an air of decay. Best avoided.I am so sorry you were not entirely satisfied with your recent visit to us. We have undertaken some repair work recently to raise the overall standard of the surroundings. I do hope that you will try us again in the future. Kind regards. Nikki, General Manger.

Welcome to The Lady Chatterley. Your brand new JD Wetherspoon for Eastwood.
We visited this Spoons as party of a day out to the micro pubs in the Eastwood area. Our group ordered various real ale. Two were stunningly undrinkable. How they were ever available for sale is mindblowing. Obviously they were never tried on bar set up that day. Worrying

The Durham Ox is the oldest inn in Ilkeston dating from 1780 with later Victorian editions. The property is steeped in history having once been used as the town gaol with secret passages taking the prisoners from the cells in the cellars up to the Church
We chose the Durham Ox as it has a very good reputation for good food & service.Sunday lunch was beautiful, staff were excellant, very friendly & helpful. We will most certainly return there for lunch again in the near future.

Weve been to the Thorn Tree many times and have always enjoyed the meals weve had. Our meal yesterday was lovely except for my daughters chicken dinner when the chicken came out pink inside. We sent it back and an alternative meal was given in its place which she enjoyed. The staff are always lovely and I always find them welcoming and will do whatever they can to make your visit a good experience. It would be nice to have an alternative to chips or sweet potatoes chips, like new potatoes or a jacket and I'd personally like the option of a non fried fish that say came with a lemon and parsley sauce but that's just a personal choice..Highly recommended x

My first visit and well worth it.Staff very friendly and I love the drinks being brought to you when eating. There is a lovely garden on the back.Toilets nice and clean.Good impressions all round. The toilets are ok for disabled too.We all had defferant meals and they were all excelant.A varied menu so not disappointing.I was undecided but decided to go with one of the burgers. If there was 1 gripe I prefer my food on a plate not on what my burger came on.There is nowhere to eat your food as the chips in a basket ,onion rings, burger in a bun, coleslaw and sauce all come together on the slate type of thing not leaving a lot of room to eat.
