Things to do in Cranbrook
Just like walking into the set of Cheers. The patrons of this place are the most friendly/welcoming people we have met. The oldest building in Cranbrook is steeped in history and stories all well told. From invitations to pick cherries on their trees to deliveries of bags of fersh huckleberries. The townspeople helped anyway they could make our stay in town that much more fun. We had dinner there one evening (the Halibut and a salad) and it was more than I could handle. Well prepared, fresh and tasty. From upscale rum and tasty shooters all was first class and Larry will even drive you back to your hotel after a great evening with the locals. We had dinner one evening and went for drinks the next three evenings.

.... I wrote a review of this restaurant, in August, and gave it a 5, and based on that experience, my husband and I decided to return for a light dinner. What a difference a couple of days made!! First, the service. We were greeted and seated promptly, and then...... well, hell might have frozen over before we got any service! We kept looking around, and although there were plenty of servers, none of them paid us any mind, so I assumed that ours must have gone on a break, and whomever was to cover that individual wasn't, or didn't know he or she was supposed to. After waiting for a significant period of time with nothing but menus, I returned to the hostesses and politely requested to be moved to a table where we might get some service. It was dinnertime, and the place was busy, so there was nothing available. One of the poor hostesses did her best to rattle off some beer choices and offer to take our order, but she was clearly struggling. She gets a five star rating for trying, though. Anyway, she left to see if she couldn't procure us some beer and there we sat......waiting. Suddenly, a young lad from another part of the restaurant, who'd obviously noticed that we'd been sitting there since god was a child came over and in a rather confused way, asked if we'd had service. I smiled and said the hostess was doing her best, and we'd gotten as far as the beer. He apologized and said he'd find our server. Good luck, I thought!! Well, out of nowhere appears a server, and had I not been sitting down, I'd have fallen down! This young woman was serving the tables across the aisle from where we were sitting, and in the 20+ minutes we'd been waiting HAD NOT EVEN LOOKED IN OUR DIRECTION!! You could have knocked me over with a feather!! She was SO disengaged that I'd been convinced that she couldn't possibly be our server! After all, in 20+ minutes, if she had been our server, wouldn't she have at least LOOKED in our direction?! Well, she arrived, with our beers, absent any kind of apology, and took our order. For the remainder of the time we were there, she gave us exactly the minimum she could get away with, now that she'd been "reminded" that she actually had to serve us. I know it was dinnertime, and the restaurant was busy, but if a young lad from another part of the restaurant recognizes that we've been there, without service, for a significant period of time, I don't think it is unrealistic to expect that the person who is tasked with serving us notice the same thing! Neither my husband nor I are difficult to please, and had our server said hello to us and told us she was swamped and she'd be 10 minutes getting to us, we'd have been perfectly okay with that, what we weren't okay with was being left in No Service Land as though we'd landed in purgatory, and then to be treated as if WE were the problem!! Now for the food. In my last review, I stated that the pizza we had was excellent, and it was. This time, my husband opted for a pasta dish and I had a roasted beet and peach salad. My husband thought his was really good, and although my salad was fresh and tasted okay, I was miffed that, instead of the roasted beets and peaches, I got boiled beets and canned peaches. Really?! In a region that has some of the richest growing conditions in North America, AND it's summer, AND it's the beginning of peach season, you're serving CANNED peaches?! Okay. Fine, but if you're going to boil your beets and open a can, at least SAY that on your menu, though in all fairness, ROASTED sounds SO much better that BOILED or CANNED, doesn't it, so maybe that's why those words are used. Who'd find a salad description appetizing if it was written as it was presented? "Fresh greens and goat cheese mixed with boiled beets and canned peaches." Yeah, I would't have ordered it, either! My husband and I were thrilled with our first visit, however, sadly, our second visit lived up to exactly what we had come to expect from BP.Hi, Mary. We're sorry to hear about your experience and we would like the chance to look into this. Please share the details at https://bostonpizza.com/contact-us.html so that we can follow up with the team involved and make it better! Thank you.

This pub is located in the Byng Hotel in downtown Cranbrook....the outside of the building is tired looking as are alot of the properties in Cranbrook, however the interior has recently been renovated and at 4:00 in the afternoon, looks clean and refreshed.......no beer on tap due to delivery problems related to road closures from the fires in and around the valley.....bottle beer available ........over 20 different flavouring of wings.....10 saucy, 10 dry spice.........hot and salt and pepper wings were very hot and very good......older clientele which was nice to see( (55 and up)..... Would not come to this area late at night .......

A cozy inviting atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time sitting in the comfy armrest chair and enjoying the window view. We ordered the smoked black cod linguini and the homemade daily soup. The linguini was delicious and creamy with onions, black garlic & assorted mushrooms. The black cod, although I knew it was going to bring a sweeter taste to the dish I was hoping that they would somehow balance the sweetness of the fish with the sauce. Although it was a delicious dish, it wasn't as savory as I had hoped. The house soup was a cream of broccoli with smoked bacon. This was amazing and you could defiantly tell someone put love into this dish. We recommend coming here for a romantic date night. Excellent.
Had a very nice lunch here on the specials menu. The food was really good and the servers were very friendly. Will be back now for the supper specials and on the Thursday for that special. Great food!

My boyfriend and I were deciding where to go for a bite and settled on going here. I ordered the veggie burger and fries, expecting the usual veggie patty....boy was I pleasantly surprised! A portabella mushroom and slice of grilled polenta with the fixings of tomato, cucumber, lettuce and more on a lightly toasted bun. The flavor and texture sensation was out of this world! It was heaven in a bun! I will definitely do this again.

Absolutely loved this place. The sports memorabilia is some of the best and as fans of hockey night in Canada, Don Cherry's was a required stop. The food was fabulous, with a great menu and a lot of adult beverages to enjoy. You won't be disappointed.

FHK&T is family-friendly watering hole with an emphasis on quality pub food and craft beers.
Situated in a former firehouse, this restaurant and bar had a quaint neighborhood feeling. There were several tables with large parties, including babies and small children. Although the large firehouse doors were closed when we were there, they can be opened onto a large patio with tables and chairs. The beer selection was excellent, with many local brews, and they served tasty and filling pub-type food. A great find in a fairly small town!

Down to earth and casual restaurant. The menu is full of very tempting ideas for the palate. However there seems to be a disconnect with the presentations and plating of some of the meals.I have explained this to the servers but if the information gets back to the kitchen I have no idea. Flavours that make the meal interesting are not just there. Some times been buried at the bottom of every thing. The cooking of the meals as well as presentations I have no problem with. It is the build up or anticipation that takes the knock. I am in every month so vary my order so as to try as many items on the menu.As for the sticky toffee pud , that is winner but now they have stopped pitting the cream sachets in my to go. Back to the profit game I suppose.Still, the food is decent hereHey Robert! Thanks so much for the review! I'd love to hear more about your experiences and what you've tried month to month, and what you think is good and what isn't! Any information always helps us improve! I'm glad in general you enjoy the food and experience however, and the sticky pudding is a crown favourite. If you're not getting the whip cream in your take out however it's likely just a mistake on one of my teams end. I'll chat with them about it today and make sure moving forward that's not something we are neglecting! Thanks again! service was superb. food was good. atmosphere loud. Was surprised by a partron coming in and being seated with a dog that was not wearing any service dog i.d. Good afternoon and thank you for your recent visit to The Heid Out. The service dog in question is actually for one of our local Canadian military veterans and is trained to recognize any anxiety in his owner. The Wolfhound is by no means inconspicuous, but is one of the best mannered canines we have ever seen and we fully support what the dog brings to the gentleman's quality of life. The veteran does carry a card with the proper credentials for a service dog but simply choses to not to have him wear an attention grabbing vest. We look forward to your return soon!!warm regards,
