Cafe Atenas

The Café Atenas, founded in 1962, is a mythical place in the city of Coimbra. Here you can taste the best francesinha in the world and a menu of typical dishes, made with high quality products.

I went to that place because of a recommendation of a workmate, who said me that the francesinhas of Atenas were the best in Coimbra. I can´t confirm that because I haven´t try the other ones, but he was right. I enjoyed a lot my Francesinha, and also the bacallao a bras that ate my girlfriend was really nice. We had the opportunity to have dinner outdoors. The resturant is curious and nice (kinda old fashioned, but with charm), it is clean, the waitress was really efficient, and the prices are in good accordance with what they give. I really recommend this place to everyone who visits Coimbra and want to try a Francesinha in a tipical place.

Arco Bar

Good decoration and ambience, not very loud and cosy. It's best for tapas but you have other foods like picanha, stakes, burgers, etc. Food is really not expensive, tapas go around between 4€ and 8€. Other foods around 7 and 9 euros. And the quality is very good. Staff was quick and helpful. Recommended

Can’t speak for the food but my wife and I came here to try the beer, we had a flight and it was fabulous (7, 100ml tasters for €4.55) and the tried a couple of others. They were all great quality and incredibly tasty and fantastic value. Absolutely totally recommend this place if you like beers!

Casa de Cha Jardim da Sereia

We found the Casa de Cha by chance, walking in the gardens around. We decided to stop and have a drink sourrounded by trees. We were surprised by the fact the the prices were so low comparing to Italy or France, but the most amazing thing we discovered is that the place is managed by a local association working with people with disabilities. Our waiter, one of them, was very nice and cool. We went just for a beer, but the lemonades and the sandwiches that other people where eating looked really delicious :) Definitely recommend it! Thank you, guys! Great that you liked it and hope you come back one day!
