After reading all the excellent reviews, we decided to visit The Devonshire Arms for breakfast. We liked the lovely decor, nice ambience and the coffee was good. We decided on the offer they had for 2 breakfasts for £10, so bearing that in mind, it was good value. However, our bacon was hard and overcooked and the egg was solid and if we had been paying the full price of £8 each, it was not good value! Perhaps we were expecting too much after all the good reviews. I think we should probably return for dinner to give it another try!Good evening Pip Thank you for taking time to leave us a review I am so disappointed you didn't enjoy your breakfast Our kitchen never intend to send food out that is not up to our high standards I can only apologise I just wish you would have mentioned at the time it would have been replaced immediatelyIf you wouldn't mind contacting me on our various contact details and let me know when you visited ect I can ensure it doesn't happen again I promise you, you were not expecting too much What you received was not acceptable

A country pub set in the fields of derbyshire providing a wide range of real ales, lagers, spirits and ciders, fresh home cooked food and accommodation. We have a large beer garden to sit and relax in including a play area for children.
We had a great lunch and recommend the duck and the steak pie dessert was good too .Love the fresh flowers on the tables .We met the chef and we were pleased to give positive feedback .

The Royal Oak is situated in the village of Barlborough serving a variety of real ales. Home cooked food is also served in the bar lounge area and the restaurant which has just been refurbished is to be a fine dining fish restaurant in the evening using q
After waiting 45 minutes. The waitress appeared with our meal. it was supposed to be Ribeye steak. There was no way it was. Believe me this steak could not be cut with a steak knife never mind eaten. It was totally all gristle. There was eight chips, over done peas, and half of a tomato. The food was almost cold. I reported it to the waitress who ARGUED that Ribeye steak is fatty. I told her this was gristle not fat. She reported it to the Chef who then told her to tell me that he will tell the butcher when he calls next week. This is not acceptable they never even offered to give me my money back.

A warm welcome by the girl behind the bar, helpful as she could be! The room was basic but above all, so damned cold that I had to sleep in my clothes;this isn't good when you've been on the road all day and need to work the next day! I daren't venture into the bathroom for more than a minute (to perform what was absolutely necessary!) as there was no heating in there whatsoever, there was no way I was going to take a shower, I'd have died of hypothermia!! The rooms are spotlessly clean though and even though on the road-side was quiet enough to get some sleep. Please get the heating sorted in the rooms, the radiator was luke-warm but a bed was pushed up against it and nowhere to move the bed to!

A 'wait to be seated' restaurant so we went in with high expectations but once inside we saw tables without table-cover, paper napkins only. The food was of a minimum standard. Ordered a rare rib-eye steak and received a well done less then a centimeter thick sliced piece of meet, priced £23. The bottle of wine was presented by a friendly waiter who seemed to serve his first bottle ever.We did not bother for a dessert and wanted to leave asap.

Open for brunch, lunch and dinner. Angel and Harlequin Bistro offers brunch, coffee and cakes followed by a full menu for lunch and dinner. We are able to cater for large parties and have areas that welcome dogs
Five of us booked for Sunday lunch. The staff were very understanding when I phoned to say that we'd had a hold up and would be 20 minutes late. Our food was nicely cooked apart from my daughter's creme brulee which tasted fine but the texture was rather grainy. 2 other desserts were shown on the menu with accompanying ice creams which turned out to be unavailable, so we had to have them with less interesting ice cream. My daughter regularly eats at this restaurant and assured us that this is a one off.Hi thank you for your review. We had a issue with one of the freezers so lost a lot of ice cream. Hense why we were short ice creamHopefully see you again

Just called in for drinks so canât comment on the food. The beer garden is lovely, even better on a sunny day. Great range of drinks and the service was excellent. Will soon return for a meal as the food looked great. Welcome addition to Clowne.

Rose and crown is in the heart of the village and has got the character and cosy feeling of a local village pub serving proper homemade hearty food for all the family. It also has a good selection of wines and beers. Reservations are advisable to avoid di
Nice pub, conveniently located just off J30 on the M1. Does an excellent Sunday Carvery. Their house beer is also quite nice.Staff seem nice too and I've been there on many occasions. Dropped 1 point because we and a few other people arrived fairly near to end of service (table was booked for then) and found they were nearly out of meat just turkey and a little pork left. People after us had no choice, and some veg were out but they were not keen to restock at that time. (I don't blame them but it seemed a little misjudged).Overall, still very happy, and will definitely be back.

We visited yesterday for a celebration meal. There were 9 people with some different dietary needs, vegan, gluten free, vegetarian, and meat eaters. We were all catered for with no problems. All the food was tasty, hot and presentation was first class. The service was excellent coming to clear the table and asking if more drinks were required just at the right moments. We also had the celebration cake made by the Elm Tree which was delicious. Many thanks to Chris, Sue and the waiting staff..Thank you for your kind review, how was the vegan chocolate mousse?Chris

Beautiful 15th Century Chantry Inn serving fresh home cooked food and cask ales. Function room available. Carvery Sunday 12-3pm.
I have already rated excellent and still do. However, having dined here five times in the last couple of months, I can now comment on some of the dishes. The sizzlers, lasagne, gammon, ham and eggs, salmon and poached fish are all superb. On a personal note-Great battered cod but still had skin on.The steak pie was a casserole with a lid of fragile pastry that shattered when you tried to put your fork in it. Otherwise very tasty. The Gumbo pepperpot to me was an expensive bowl of leftovers from other items on the menu.A bigger specials board would be good as then you don't always know what you're having before you get there. On a very personal note-they don't stock newcastle brown.Hi there, Thanks so much for your review, we're glad you enjoyed us enough to pop back so many times! We hope we can continue to allow you to try more of our dishes and find some more that do suit! It is often very interesting to hear different opinions on our dishes. Next week we will be changing our menu for our more autumnal selection, so we hope you will come again to try this menu too. Just for any future reference: We are always more than happy to take the skin off your fish and chips, please mention it next time. We take your note about the pies and are actually changing to a new recipe for the pie, it will be an all encompassed pie next time! And we just so happen to be taking the Gumbo off! - So I hope we have solved all the dishes that don't quite suit. We look forward to seeing you again in the future, Many Thanks! Olivia.
