Set among the Chilterns, The White Hart Inn is located in the village of Chalfont St Giles (southeast Buckinghamshire). Although a purpose-built hotel, the modern bedrooms and contemporary-style bar reflect elements of a traditional country pub, for a mor
We went to the White Hart with some friends from Germany. It was very lively as a Friday evening 7pm, car park was nearly full( you do have to pay to park, but can redeem fee for money off drinks/food £2-3 covers for long enough) They have a good selection of beers, and quieter eating area away from bar. Waiter was very good and menu had great selection of food. When food arrived was very impressed, not only was the food a good sized portion it was very well presented and most important very tasty. The duty manager came over to check everything was ok, but weren't hassled about more drinks. We were all nicely full and very pleased with the service, and we could also use Tesco vouchers as it is a chef and brewer so a win win, and will definitely be going back. A moot point was the music was a little loud but that might have been due to early Friday evening as bar was very busy, and restaurant not so.. but it didn't effect our evening and it's good to see a pub that busy. Well DoneThank you for leaving a really good review with some lovely comments.I am so pleased you all had a great time and enjoyed the food and beer selection.Sorry to hear the music was a little loud we will bear this in mind for the future.

The newly renovated Merlins Cave is located in the heart of Chalfont St Giles on the Village Green, a beautiful village only a few minutes drive from the M40 and M25. Merlin's Cave has been rejuvenated into a beautiful country pub, with an all-fresh food
When we were last here over a year ago the service and food were excellent and got 5* from me. But not this time. The two men on the desk didn't seem as though they wanted to work there. The food was OK but nothing special, and £6 for the smallest glass of wine expensive (a four fold mark up). Will think twice before returning. Sad

We were passing through and chose this place for Sunday lunch as it was listed as dog- friendly and it looked like it had a lot of greenery around it for a nice post lunch walk. We were not disappointed. Very friendly welcome, nice ambience, offered the dog water. Good menu choice- the usual Sunday roasts offered ( I had a lovely vegetarian Chestnut roast with all the trimmings incl veg gravy and a great yorkshire pudding) and hubby had steak which was a good size and he said was perfectly cooked. Great chips too! Yummy dessert choice. Nice lakeside walks nearby. Will definitely come again if in the area. We both had two courses, and bill was just over £40 incl two pints of beer so we thought this was good value.

Visited on chance for lunch and wished this pub/restaurant was closer to home. Interesting menu and some good specials on offer, the bar offers interesting ales and good wines. The staff were very friendly and food superb, portions generous and would not recommend trying to eat three courses unless very hungry. Pork belly excellent and sea bass special equally good, along with the sticky toffee pudding which was shared. Highly recommended place to visit.

Came for lunch as we usually do about 3 times a year to find new owners and staff. The portions were smaller than before, pudding menu much worse, it took 1 hour 45 minutes to serve 2 sandwiches a burger and 3 desserts, staff were not attentive at all the place was almost empty so no excuse for the long waits. Our salad was brown there was onion skin left in my salad and the large circular base of the iceburg lettuce was left in my nan's salad the kids burger had no veg or salad on the side. The kids burger was over cooked and far too much of a rich meat for a young child. The cheesecake was disappointing flavourless and a strange texture. The most disappointing was the service though usually your greeted by a friendly atmosphere and constantly checked upon this time just left sat waiting for ages. We complained about the salad but were just offered a half hearted sorry, for the price of the menu we expected a better experience. Shame as we used to love going here shan't be visiting any time soon.Thank you for your feedback. We are very disappointed to hear of your experience while dining with us, and sincerely apologise. We would very much like the opportunity to resolve this issue at hand, and if it's not too much trouble, would really appreciate if you could email me at [email protected]. Thank you, and we hope to hear from you again soon.

This retaurant has an extensive menu to cater for all tastes, attentive and efficient staff and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. My family eat here regularly and the food is of a consistently high standard. There are a range of menus - bar food, plus an extensive range of options for a more formal meal. Everything arrives quickly, pipng hot and well presented. The food is tasty and interesting. Love the steak, the confit duck and the mussels. The pistachio souffle is wonderful. The restaurant is sufficiently large to usually guarantee a seat, although it is worth booking at weekends. There is also a good seating area outside for when the sun shines. The restaurant is attached to an equally pleasant pub area, spacious and well decorated. I thoroughly recommend this place for a great evening out or a light lunch - for couples and families.Dear Rhian,Thank you very much for your kind words about your experiences at The Jolly Farmer. To add to what you say, we have new, seasonal Autumn menus rolling-out this week which has even more choices going into the colder months. You will be glad to hear that the duck, steak and mussels carry over into the new menu, but you must come try the new pheasant dish too!Our service and kitchen teams are delighted to hear that their considerable efforts are appreciated, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.Regards,Gary WiseAssistant Manager

Bridging the gap between country inn & local restaurant, this substantial brick & timber hostelry is a handy addition to the drinking & dining scene in this gentrified part of the Chilterns. The Three Oaks is an independent and contemporary 'Gastro Pub' w
Every dish adds unexpected ingredients and presents itself in a unique style that makes the food in this gastro pub exceptional. The whole kitchen brigade are to be complemented.Coupled with a young service team that is both knowledgable and has personality, this is an excellent place to dine out.Ciara in particular is a great example of the wait staff. Unfaltering standards over several years is a compliment to Manager Wesley. Highly recommended by this experienced reviewer.
