The restaurant "The Sweet Escape" has opened its doors this Wednesday 1st July to 580, rue Marcel D'Assault in Calais, in the heart of Marcel Doret area. We are only waiting for you! This restaurant, with modern decor, is welcoming and friendly and wants
Right in the heart of an industrial estate on the out skirts of Calais. We stumbled across this small French cafe by complete accident. And we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there. Typical French lunch menu, with very friendly service and open all day even on Sundays!Ideal stop on the way to and from the ferry or tunnel. A bit difficult to find maybe, but a delight.Recommended, definately will return.
I like this Bar as you can sit outside and watch the world go bye as you drink your Ricard .Very good service always.

After picking up a car full of wine we wanted somewhere for lunch. We found Le Mirador at 47 Bd Jacquard. We all chose the dish of the day at 16.50 euro's, which was perfectly cooked and excellent value. We decided to leave car which was parked outside the restaurant the waitress explained that we needed a free parking ticket before we returned later, she offered to do this for us which just added to the first class service we received

We went for breakfast. We ordered one English and one French breakfast. I'm afraid the English was not good. Two fried eggs, both broken. Something resembling baked beans. Some grilled tomatoes, a sausage and lettuce with salad cream. It was all stone cold. The owner was very nice, and even brought over some HP Sauce (obviously believing all English people have this for breakfast). We continued our search for breakfast elsewhere the following day (without success).

We have been visiting this restaurant for the past 18 years and rarely have we had a bad meal. On our last night in Calais after travelling up from the south we had no hesitation in visiting this restaurant again, however we were very disappointed. The service was good and the serving staff pleasant and friendly but the meal was very poor. My wifeâs vegetable soup was tasteless and my pork ribs very salty and undercooked. After a long day travelling my wife didnât want to make a fuss and so we paid the bill and left.I have since looked at the reviews and it seems a bit of a mixed bag of opinions, but our choice is we will not be coming here again.

Oh, how I do wish there were more cafes, restaurants or 'gastro pubs' like Café de la Tour back home; more in Norfolk would be too much to hope for!!Café de la Tour overlooks the main square in Calais, next to a tall medieval watch-tower. We've stopped here for morning coffee before, but this time it was for lunch. All the customers were French, so far as I could tell. Not a surprise because the food was delicious and fresh, the portions were generous and the service was quick and friendly. Two lovely very lunches and large bottle of fizzy water, all for around £20.

Ended up in here because we had a veggie in our group and the 'posh' places had nothing for her!Glad we did, the food was excellent and reasonably priced, not fancy but good solid cooking. We had mussels with mustard and bacon, a steak with Roquefort, a burger and a cheese omelette. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the service was jolly and friendly.I'd definitely go back.

L'Hovercraft restaurant is one of the best-known, most popular restaurants and pubs in all Calais. The supporters of northern football teams make it a point to gather here for sporting retransmissions on the big screens and there's always an enthusiastic
Not having visited Calais previously we asked around to find a restaurant for dinner and this one was recommended - fantastic choice. The service was top notch by friendly staff and the food was delicious. The only comment I would make is that my dessert portion was way too big - lucky I had help to finish it.
