It seems like most folks have a grandmother, great-uncle or some other distant relative that used to live in Brooklyn, or perhaps a friend that lives there now. In the early 1900s, it was a mecca for immigrants arriving via Ellis Island. A hundred years later, young professionals and artists left pricey Manhattan digs for Brooklyn's cheaper and more expansive space. Neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope, which had fallen into disrepair over the years, were restored and reborn as funky enclaves. Walk or bike over the historic Brooklyn Bridge (or ride the subway) to Brooklyn Heights for a stroll along the Promenade and breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. Meander through Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens for a taste of nature in the urban wilds. Catch a performance at the world-famous Brooklyn Academy of Music. From the delicious Italian restaurants of Bensonhurst to the Irish bars that line the avenues of Bay Ridge, from the hotdogs and rollercoasters of Coney Island to the bagels and handball courts of Greenpoint, Brooklyn is a state of mind as well as a dynamic community. Discover why, no matter where people move on to, they remain Brooklynites at heart.

Wife and I stopped here after our visit to the 9/11 Museum. Place was packed but we were seated quickly. The sandwiches and fries were amazing and the service was excellent considering how busy they were. Having a properly poured Guinness was a plus.

Family owned and operated since 1964, Ginoâs Restaurant is a long standing tradition in Bay Ridge. Located on Fifth Avenue, Gino's is one of the best kept secrets featuring Italian cuisine in Brooklyn. We invite all of our guests to enjoy a fine dining ex
Ginoâs is a very popular restaurant, so be prepared to wait to be seated on weekends. There is a reason for this, and that is that the food is consistently excellent. In addition to an extensive menu, specials are featured. Linguine in white clam sauce was perfectly prepared, although there could have been more clams, and whole instead of chopped. Servings are large, with enough to take home. Service was excellent. The only downside is that when it is crowded, the noise level is high. I try to go during off times for that reason. All in all, excellent food, you wonât be disappointed. Parking is on the street and is sometimes a challenge.

Just walking around and found this great bar/restaurant. Love the interior. Went inside and the nice gentleman gave me a brief tour (3 areas to explore). Crowded at 2PM; found a spot and the bartender recommended the Humble Pie cocktail. Like an old fashioned cocktail but much better. Wish I could have stayed longer.

New Orleans style absinthe and oyster bar
Place was jam packed on a beautiful Saturday night as are many restaurants in nyc. We had a reservation for 7:00, so we walked in and got seated immediately. As we are just sitting down, the hostess proceeds to tell us that they "need the table back" at 9 pm. We are three girls celebrating a friend's birthday dinner. We have all traveled around the world and eaten in many of the top restaurants in NYC and abroad, and that was our first experience hearing something so RUDE. If that is the restaurant's policy, then they should make absolutely sure that upon making a reservation, the people are told just that. Because then I can decide if I actually want to dine there or not. We had a great server named Daniel. He was extremely attentive to us, very kind, and he was really busy. We expressed to him at almost 8:30 that most of our food hadn't even come out yet which he obviously realized, and your hostess is telling us we have to leave in a half hour!!!??? He told us not to worry and it wasn't a problem that the table was ours. Nice, being that we ordered a ton of food, oysters, cocktails, and dessert and spent plenty of money there. Aside from the hostess comment, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The restaurant is beautiful, the oysters were delicious, we loved our cocktails and our server Daniel was terrific.

Westvilleâs first Brooklyn location is situated in the heart of D.U.M.B.O, a few blocks north of Brooklyn Bridge Park. The traditional American food eatery is a staple amongst Manhattan-ites and prides itself on high quality, inexpensive comfort food. Fam
We arrived late-morning for brunch. The welcome was warm and friendly, service was efficient and the choice of dishes on the menu was good.My partner chose eggs benedict with chorizo and I had the baked pancake with fresh fruit and syrup. We both enjoyed our choices â relatively simple dishes that were well-executed.It was a fine, sunny day so we chose a table in the garden, which was very pleasant.Everything was good and there was nothing to fault with our experience of this restaurant. Highly recommended based on our visit.Hi! We appreciate this incredibly thoughtful review, but even more so we appreciate that you gave us a chance and that we were able to meet your expectations! Please come join us again soon, we would love the opportunity to replicateâor surpassâyour brunch experience! Westville is always here for your enjoyment. Cheers!

We started of with pisco sours and then had appetizers and entrees. The food tasted excellent, service was superb. It comes with quite a price tag though. For special occasions only.

As residents of The Roxy hotel we ate both dinner & breakfast at the Roxy Lounge. Dinner was lovely - i ate hummus & vegetable crudités & had several of the Roxy cocktail. Breakfast - bagels & cream cheese were divine!! The atmosphere in the Lounge is wonderful - there is always music - either live pianist, jazz group or a singer.Such a great place. Highly recommended.
