A 16th Century pub with great gardens and open fires in the heart of Herongate village, on the outskirts of Brentwood. Food is served from 12-9pm every day apart from Sunday until 6pm and Monday until 7pm. We're well known for our Sunday roasts, friendly
The starters and main food was really good.I had pie and others had salmon and hunters chicken all which were great portion size and cooked beautifully. The only thing that let them down was the specials bounty cheesecake which was literally plain cheesecake with a bit of bounty on it..Also sadly there was a gentleman who was extremely drunk and spoiled our evening a bit but a lovely lady ,who I would say was the manager, dealt with the issue quickly and efficiently.

Just three miles south of bustling Brentwood, yet surrounded by woodlands and fields in the unspoilt village of Herongate, The Boar's Head is a Grade II listed country pub overlooking the village pond close to Button Common. It started life as three Tudor
Just had early evening meal with family and the food and service were fantastic. Recommend the 28 day aged sirloin - super tasty and beautifully cooked. Lovely old pub and super friendly and courteous staff. Very reasonable pricing. Highly recommended.Hi BlueskyNorthLondon,We appreciate your kind comments regarding your recent visit at The Boars Head. We take pride in what we do and happy that itâs noticed from our guests.Kind regardsJamie KavanaghGeneral Manager

This is a much improved pub; fashionably redecorated, with great food and regular DJ's or bands. The only downer is getting served; there simply aren't enough staff and given many are making cocktails and regulars take up space sitting at the bar, this means you can wait 15+mins to get served when it is busy. We've given up on numerous occassions and gone to other pubs. The young staff are verging on rude and moody and the owners ought to mystery-shop them just to see how bad they can be towards the people who pay their wages. Put more staff ie some experienced adults behind the bar with a bit of customer rapport and this place would be worthy of 5 stars and customers wouldn't walk out all the time.

With everything you would expect from a traditional pub, the menu is full of classic traditional English food with a modern twist. All accompanied with fine wines and a good selection of beers. Open every day food is served from midday until late into the
Nice relaxed atmosphere, always enjoyable venue to meet friends for lunch. Never disappointed and one of our favourite lunch venues.

With over 170,000 readers a week and being in the top 2% in London on Tripadvisor I feel as though I recognise a good venue for lunch. And, in fairness, this is a good venue. Service great and food excellent. They let themselves down badly in only one aspect of the whole experience! That was that they advertise wine vintages incorrectly and as such overcharge for what they sell. I asked for confirmation that they had exactly what they advertised and was told that they did not but had something similar. I accepted that and told the waiter that I wanted what they had but it was NOT as expensive as the one advertised and offered them a slightly reduced price which was rejected, clearlyNow without enough thought! This may be an establishment that is concerned more about £1 than a client that may have come back time and time again!!!!!Good for the food but the owner needs to be fair that if he/she doesnât have the advertised product then be a little considerate about the value!!!

Went here Monday night with the girls we all ordered burgers some beef some chicken a couple of portions of dirty fries ( which was chips with hot sauce and cheese) halloumi and onion rings all was excellent will definitely be going again and the girls will too. The only downfall was the staff they was all young and donât think they wanted to be there not very attentive even when we had a bottle of wine they put the glasses down and the bottle for us to pour ourselves not very professional and lazy. The burgers all came up in small bowls which where awkward to get out and had to ask for plates twice as they where too busy chatting and looking at their phones!!!

Staff are welcoming polite and the services provided was impressive as they were extremely attentive and to our furry friends! Food was served within 15 minutes and was very hot. Dog friendly and very cozy and clean atmosphere. The menus is excellent value for money and extremely tasty for pub food. Food was presented very nice with extra little touches and quality was great. With filling lunches from 7.40 upwards you leave feeling very content and satisfied. Would definitely recommend and will be going on a weekly occurrence.

Established in 1679 as a coaching inn, The King's Head in Chipping Ongar is the oldest brick-fronted building on Chipping Ongar High Street. Named after King James II, who is believed to have stayed here during his reign, this Grade II listed building is
The venue itself is a pleasant local pub resataurant however I did find it falling below standards which is dissapointing. When serving you at the bar it would be nice if they were listening to you and not having a conversation elsewhere. Having to repeat your order several time and then NOT get your drinks order correct is a prime example. I also ordered two pizzas of which one was very burn't on the bottom and the other one had plastic in the food. This I got a refund for. If you want your Quiz nights supported .... support us with good service.Hi dcutts1,Thank you for your review. We're sorry your experience with us on Quiz Night did not reflect our usual high standards. We hope you will come back and give us another opportunity to provide a more pleasant experience.Kind Regards,Donal
