Lunch And Dinner And Late Night With A DJ And State of the art sound and lighting. We Have Big Screen TV'S 2 Are 100" Screens. State Of The Art Pool Tables And Have 32 Beers On Tap All North Carolina Brewed.
Cool place with fire pit outside and fireplace inside. Pool tables and cold beer. Family had spent several hours on the slopes and stopped in here for pizza. Pizza was mediocre at best. You order at the bar but then you are on your own. You get your own plates, utensils, etc. They bring pizza to your table but then thatâs it. But because we were a party of six they charged 15% tip. Donât get me wrong we are good tippers when service is provided but this was definitely sub par service. Other places in town with pizza which we will try. Doubt we go back to Mile High Tavern. As previously mentioned cool environment with lots of potential.

Wife and I enjoyed Philly Cheesesteak and French Dip sandwiches on the patio. Both were very good, but maybe a little smaller than most. Draft beers were also good and priced fairly, though the draft special was special in that it was not ordinarily on tap, not priced specially. Service was fine and our order was accurate, though visits to the table were limited. The patio is much more inviting than it was when it was Nick's, with the old lampposts gone, and a new soft flooring and tables. We enjoyed our meal and will eat at Highlanders again.

We frequent this restaurant. They have specials different nights of the week. For ex: $5.00 pizzas, prime rib night, lobster night. The last time we went sat in Barra watching football and ordered a pizza with order of chicken wings. We asked for thin crust andthey never disappoint. The wings were excellent too!

The High Country's Premier Steak and Seafood Restaurant for over 30 years. Featuring an award wining wine list, regional beers and craft cocktails. Indoor and covered outdoor seating available. Private room available for events.
I'll have to say that we enjoyed our dining here a lot. The atmosphere is nice and despite what we had read, the vast majority of people were dressed quite casually. It didn't feel like an upscale, up Market restaurant that we were out of class in. Our server, Heather, really made the meal exceptional. She was friendly, very professional, made recommendations when asked and make sure that the meal flowed perfectly. Each course from the James River oysters to the roasted beetroot and feta salad, to the prime rib was presented well, had great blendings of flavors, and the right proportion. We ended the meal with a sweet potato pie - a nightly special that was a creation of the chef. Really liked it as it was not overly sweet and not overly heavy, but the perfect ending to the meal.Thank you for your recent visit and your kind words. We look forward to serving you again in the near future.

Oh my word, how is this place still open?!? First we had to signal the bartender (who was the only professional employee we encountered... but she could only do so much) to even get acknowledged. Then the food took FOREVER. A grilled cheese, corndog, turkey sandwich, and a taco salad should not take over an hour to prepare. We watched an employee open and take her birth control pills right ON the bar while we waited for our drinks to be refilled, and finally an incredibly rude waitress. The ridiculous wait time and the atrocious service was absolutely not worth the mediocre food. This was my first and absolute last visit to Nick's!

A casual fine dining experience located in the heart of the High Country NC at the bottom of grandfather mountain outside Sugar Mountain ski resort.
What a beautiful restaurant. Mark the manager was great and Jacob our server was very attentive and full of great suggestions. The steaks were so flavorful. We will return each time we visit for sure.

The only reason I'm not giving this a lower rating is because the server was sweet and attentive. We ordered a steak, chicken quesadilla, a cheese burger and steak sandwich. The steak, which was uneatable, was covered in a brown murky liquid that looked like dirty dish water. The quesadilla tasted horrible. The steak sandwich and cheese burger were fine but lacking in taste. We spent over hundred dollars which included only 1 glass of wine. I would NEVER eat here again. Complete rip off for subpar foood

We went for breakfast, but they serve lunch and dinner as well. Our food was delicious. Our waitress was nice and got our order correct. If In the area, I would definitely go back and would love to check out their lunch and dinner options.
