Find out what Bar restaurants to try in Bamberg. Like Rome, Bamberg sits on seven hills, though these are lush, green Bavarian ones. You’ll find all sorts of architecture here, so enjoy exploring the cobbled streets. Plenty of shopping and museums await you, as do nine different breweries. The city loves markets and festivals, especially around Christmas.

Went last night and had the miso soup and the beef salad. The soup was good, but the salad was INCREDIBLE: Two different dressings on it, both incredible. Beef was definitely gingery- but not overpowering. Great variety of lettuce with cucumbers, avocado, red peppers and somethings that was crunchy. I honestly hadn´t even finished my meal and I was planning when I could come back. HIGHLY recommend. Side note: Kind of strange with their reservations. I called and made a 5:30 reservation and on the phone they stated twice it was only until 7:30. Then, when we arrived, they reminded us we only had until 7:30. Sure enough, at 7:35 the waitress came over and asked us to pay and leave. Really, two hours IS enough for dinner, but I found the whole thing a bit strange.

...which you should not miss. This is another of the many local breweries in Bamberg and very nice. Actually I just had beers, so I cannot say anything about the food. But will return for that.

It was our second time at this restaurant because we like their great variety of beer. They also have a Rauchbier, that does not taste that much like ham. The food was very good and they have high quality products. The first time we had steaks for which the prices were okay, the second time we had one of the Roggenkönig (type of flatbread with toppings) which was very good, then we I had also a baked potato with salmon. The potato was nothing special, which was a little disappointing but they put a lot of salmon on it, so all in all it was good. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and from some tables you can see the brewing pots. What I disliked was the music they played, in my opinion it did not fit very well.

We spotted the Henrii from the bridge and headed over to have a drink at their long high table and watch the sun go down.We had a very helpful waiter who spoke excellent English and helped us with our wine choices a glass of pinot blanc and one of Riesling, both good and excellent value, we enjoyed the setting so much we had another glass.

Cafe Abseits is the best place in Bamberg for tasting German beer. You can drink around 60 different types of beer i.E. Dark and black beers named Kloster Brewery Andechser Dunkles, Schlenkerla, Fischer Rauchbier and Weiherer Rauch (smoke beers), Weizenbi
Abseits does translate as "apart", "secluded" or "remote".Bamberg has a world culture heritage cityscape and so many many toursist visit it - particularly in summer. Most of the central restaurants and guesthouses are crowded and very busy.If you´re willing to walk a while, you will not only see more of the town, and how people live, but you may also come to this fine place. Abseits. The choice of beers made me enquire if there were guest rooms available (sadly not so) because I would not have minded staying here all evening, testing more variations of Franconian beers. The food was good. There is a dish of the day and a pleaseant choice of other meals. The outdoor seating is lovely. The staff are humorous and friendly.I shall come back.

We found this by accident late at night our first night in Bamberg. We were immediately seated, had great service, affordable delicious food (8.99 special on hamburger, fries and drink). We LOVED the beer here which was super cheap and smooth. The crowd is diverse -- but heavy on the college crowd (who incidentally were friendly and nice.)

So after our walking tour , we decided to try this place and taste this Smokey beer that we heard so much about. This beer called « Rauchbier » was great , it has a slight taste of liquid beer but this place is renowned for their Smokey beer. Definitely must try...

In the middle of the old part of Bamberg, directly beneath the mighty cathedral, one can find the historic smoked beer brewery Schlenkerla. First mentioned in 1405 and now run by the Trum family in the 6th generation, it is the fountain of Original Schlen
Had a couple of pints of the worlds best Rauchbier, Märzen and a blonde. The history of the brewery is impressive and dates back several hundred years. Iâve sought out Schlenkerla beers in the US and in the UK. Sitting in the Bamberg pub with a wooden barrel aged Märzen is close to nirvana for any beer-aficionado (geek). Outstanding!!
