I visited on a Monday evening with a group of friends after work. I wasnât expecting much... and therefore didnât get much either. The service was poor from I can only assume was a mute waiter. Everything was communicated long distance with gestures. The good was very average with a standard curry taste. For what we received it was expensive. I will not be hurrying back! On the plus side you can take your own alcohol in (quick nip to Tesco 2 mins down the road). The coke ordered in the restaurant was flat. Not good :/

Traditional Bengali Street Food
First off, the restaurant is lovely, The staff are friendly, the menu is fascinating and the presentation is top rate. I have had two takeaways. The snacks are great, especially the fritters and chicken balls. Beautiful rice, nans and chutneys. There were problems with other dishes :-A signature dish of prawns and cauliflower curry with rice came as 3 ordinary tail on prawns with some cauliflower florets. As this was served on the rice, all the liquid had soaked into it, leaving a dry and rather bland dish. As we had waited some time for this, I queried the dish, thinking the kitchen had made a mix up. They were concerned, and made a prompt refund. An order of Chicken Do Feeyaz came without the promised onions, and had a thin creamy gravy It may have been something else - Chiken Makhan perhaps? It was good, but not to my taste. If they had made a substitution, they didn't tell me.The Signature Kachi biryani was a disappointment - very dry and far less spicy than others I've had. Some pieces of beef were very dark and dry - others were fresh and good. The chutney and salad didn't arrive either. Some of this may have been due to my request to leave off the coriander garnish,I regret having to award a poor rating. It's obviously authentic street food and deserves to do well. I'll give it another go in a couple of months.Hi Ian,Thanks for your review.Based on the reviews you have done for previous Indian restaurants where you have rated the food 5*, sadly I donât believe we are ever going to be able to match your expectations. Our sauces will never be thick, we utilise the natural stock out of the meats rather than adding puréed one taste vegetable stock to precooked pieces of chicken/meat. The Biryani is also cooked from fresh in a huge pot, as we keep the food in the Heated Display Counter sometimes pieces of meat at the bottom of the pans can dry out a little and become a little darker on the surface. Biryani isnât meant to be spicy it is meant to be packed with flavour, we use an abundance of ground spices to make the dish. If you are comparing us against Biryanis which are prepared when pieces of meat are added to pilau rice and a dash of curry stock sauce then tossed together in a pan then sadly we arenât ever going to be able to deliver.Part of the many processes used when cooking our Du Feeyaz is to blend fresh onions with cream and yoghurt. Fried Onions are added into the curry at the point of cooking, it seems we may have forgot to add the fried onion garnish for decorative purposes. As you have mentioned we sell authentic food and you are absolutely right. Just big pans of curry that we sell until they have finished. We have Chefs working in the Restaurant that can easily revert back to the usual tossing pre cooked pieces in a pan, adding puréed stock and garnishing with extra bits such as onions for Du Feeyaz, Bell Peppers for Jalfrezi and Extra Hot Chilli Powder for Vindaloo however this isnât us. We are surprised that you have rated us 2* as in your previous email you mentioned the food was delicious. We appreciate your feedback but also understand that tastes differ for everyone and appreciate our home made food may just not be to your liking. If you do ever return in the future which we hope you do, we recommend that you taste the food for spice levels before ordering. We offer this to all our customers because we know that we arenât going to be for everyone.Regards,Mrs A's Kitchen

We were greeted by a lovely English girl who was so efficient She took our order quickly and brought us drinks and poppadumsOnce she went the service slowed considerably However the food was lovely, no fault could be found The only reason that they have not received 5 stars is because of the slow service

Our local curry house must have Been 12 + times staff are friendly and always have a laugh. The quality of the food is outstanding for the money you pay - particularly like the special starter, prawn or king prawn chatt and the jalfrezi, only item Iâm not a fan off is the lamb chops, can not wait to go again

Staff are really accommodating & seemingly more courteous than any neighbouring Indian food establishment.Tables are a bit close together so thereâs little intimacy & itâs noisy when busy but itâs lively.Food and drink service is very speedy.Menu is vast. Prices are significantly lower than anywhere else in the area.Madras was a bit too tomatoey for my liking. Lime pickle is a good one if youâre a lime pickle fan.Sizzling tandoori dishes smelled & look amazing. Will have one of those next time.Much better decor inside than in previous years.

Tried here last night for the first timeWe ordered 2 popadoms each and the pickle tray, this was nice and tasty crisp popadoms, we then had prawn tikka, vegetable pakora and o onion bahji again lovely no issues, for mains we had king prawn curry, chicken tikka, 2 chips, 2 plain naan and pilau rice the food was like warm apart for the chips but tasty hence the review score, we had 2 cobra beers and 2 cans of boddingtons and the total bill came to around £56 so not a bad price, it was a shame the place could be really busy on a Friday if they had small entertainment and meal deals on say £25 each for 2 courses and a singer the place would make money on drinks and also pay the act however nice little gem of a place just need to heat the food up more

Visited for the first time on Friday 1/11 with 3 girlfriends. The staff here are very attentive. The food was nice all four of us having different meals. Itâs quite an upmarket restaurant with chandeliers and comfy couch seating area and very brightly lit, however really noisy as the acoustics lend themselves to enhancing everyoneâs conversations so quite hard to hear ourselves. Dear JanMEngland,First I would like to thank you for the visit and taking the time to share a review. We do take great care in providing the best food and service to our guests. We are glad to know that you and your girlfriends have enjoyed the meals and the attentive service we provided. However, we can see that you had difficulty hearing each other because of the noise created by the acoustics. We will be sure to forward this on to the management to fix the issue urgently.Hope on your next visit, we will meet your expectations fully.

Our party of 16 were seated upstairs and despite it being a full house upstairs and downstairs and also catering for another large birthday party we couldnât fault the food and service as per usual.
