Home to our National Award winning chef and established for over 14 years
A friend recommended here as he knew we liked good Indian food. The staff were very friendly showing us to the table where our friends were already seated. The menu wasn't enormous, for us a good sign and there were numerous dishes that we hadn't heard of before. We asked the waiter for advice on which dishes we should choose, I personally like my curries hot, not only hot but tasty, not just burning hot. The waiter's advice was perfect. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals but even so there was just too much to completely empty our plates

Trawling through TripAdvisor we came upon this little golden nugget of Indian culinary excellence. On arrival you fear the worst. The local Chingford crowd are friendly enough but seemed slightly surprised that we'd bother to "dress up" (I was wearing trousers rather than jeans and a graphic "T") and there was a level of gawking usually only reserved for clicky country pubs.Anyhoo, the restaurant staff were ultra-friendly. They complimented my wife on her choice of dress and they whisked us through the staring diners to a comfortable table midway through the somewhat regimented layout. Endless waves of smiling, helpful waiters (I counted 6, including the owner) popped up at out table offering menus and drinks and at least two of them merely attended our table to enquire as to our general wellbeing. The menu is quite long with an almost endless array of dishes all sensibly priced (in fact, they seemed worryingly cheap). However, I needn't have worried at all as the food at Voujon is beautifully presented and very, very tasty.Delicately prepared rices, wonderful fresh, fluffy naan breads and generous mains made from good quality staples of chicken and lamb all amounted to a sumptuous feast. Never stodgy, never over-spiced and with a wonderful attention to detail. There are nostalgic twists like the laminated desert menus featuring the deserts of yesteryear (not sure if these are intended to be so but they were great fun nonetheless). Wine list is basic and could probably do with a revamp but you don't go to an Indian restaurant for the wine as the curries knock-out the palate and Kingfisher and Cobra are usually the best route to take.As we wound down and stroked our bellies our waiter (Aran) introduced himself formally and presented my wife with a box of Maltesers - nice touch! In all, an authentic local curry-house experience - almost a throwback to the 70s and 80s but with good modern-day service levels and truly lovely food.

Made an unplanned first visit here, and were welcomed like old friends. Seated and taken care of, we came to order. As a table of 4, we had looked at the menu and decided to ask our host for recommendations. He proceeded to perform a deft diagnostic of our individual curry preferences, and tailor our orders accordingly. From "chicken, spicy, saucy, garlicky", I was presented with a chicken Handi, dialled up to my specifications. It was incredible. Naans were so big, we had to pull up a spare table to keep them on. Absolutely awesome. I have no concerns about recommending this far and wide. My only concern is that this may be one of Loughton's best kept secrets, and I'd hate to have to fight for a table in the future!

Eight of us visited on Saturday 27th April, for my daughter's 21st birthday. We live in Shenfield but the Indian restaurants there are of mediocre quality with high prices. Found the Spice Masala about 8 months ago and although it's a 20 minute drive it's worth it. We had an excellent meal with very attentive service. We didn't mention the birthday but the waiters must have seen that she had some cards to open at the table. At the end of the meal they brought out an ice cream cake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday! Food was very tasty, meat/chicken tender and flavourful. In fact we drove past on Sunday morning and said we would like to go back for more! This has become out favourite Indian restaurant for miles. Highly recommended.

Yet again another fantastic evening at the Balti House, its like coming home for dinner, the staff are fantastic, friendly, helpful and will suggest something you have not tried if you wish, this is because they generally remember what you have ordered in the past, I recommend the Chicken Tikka Tawa,Balti style with Kashmeri rice.

We booked to come for a birthday meal for my mum today at 14:00 via the website, it was really easy and hassle free. Before we arrived I realised we had forgot birthday candles. I called the restaurant and they said theyâd supply them for me. Thank you! When we arrived I asked for some high chairs as two of our party were under two (Sunday is described as âfamily dayâ on the menu) but the guy explained to me that due to a previous incident they do not supply high chairs. Whilst I understand as a company they need to ensure they are protected against claims etc, Iâd say it would probably be more business smart to provide high chairs and display a notice saying that if high chairs are used it is the parents responsibility to ensure they are used correctly and safely which would then clear the restaurant of any liability if an accident relating to use of the high chairs was to occur. Luckily with some clever use of a baby car seat we were able to make shift a chair so we could sit my 1 year old son at the table. Our meal was lovely, hot and fresh tasting. There were less exotic options for the non adventurous members of the group (nuggets and chips). We would definitely come again, but unfortunately not until the little ones are old enough to sit on a normal chair.Thank you!Thank you for your feedback, we are glad that you have enjoyed the overall experience at Garden of India. Mo and the team are always on hand to care the very best care of you.Garden Of India

Our local curry house, and honestly the best curry both of us have ever had. The veggie biryani is perfect plus the saag paneer is perfect. Iâve had several of the chicken curries over the years - jalfrezi and korai are my personal favourites. Diligent service but always busy; try and go early if you want to get your food super quick!

We have been coming to the raj for 10 years. The service is fantastic and the food is absolutely delicious. We have never had a bad meal and the staff make you feel so welcome. We have dined in various groups, as a couple, with friends and all the family. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and is the best Indian in the area. We would definitely recommend, you will not be disappointed27 sep 2019Thank you for your review. We really Appreciate your wonderful comments. Here at Raj we take our customerâsFeedback very seriously.
