Most Popular Balti food in Nottingham, England, United Kingdom

Find out what Balti restaurants to try in Nottingham. This town in the very center of England is perhaps best known for its association with the legend of Robin Hood. The men in tights are long gone, though—today, you’ll find a modern city with a fantastic playhouse, ice hockey arena, and many, many shops and clubs.

We've visited Nottingham's Tamatanga lots of times since it first opened. On this occasion my brother and I both had the Tamatanga Thali (where you get two choices of curry, rather than one) and we were not disappointed. All of the food tastes so fresh and isn't heavy and full of too much salt, cream and butter like so many curry houses can be. The Goan Fish, Lamb Palak Gosht, Prawn Nilgiri and Keralan Lamb curries were all superb today. Service was friendly and prompt - the staff were attentive and seemed "bothered" about our experience without being overbearing. We have never been disappointed with food when visiting here - give it a go!

We visited for the first time tonight for a family celebration. It was not at all what I expected, pulling up in the middle of a housing estate I instantly felt transported to another country as we walked through the doors. The interior is very busy and eclectic, it felt like a Nepalese Hard Rock Cafe with the motor bikes and the signs and memorabilia somewhere. The food was absolutely delicious! The portions were really generous and the flavours were amazing. I always have a korma, so I know a good korma, this was an amazing korma!! Everything even down to the veg rice was packed with colour and flavour. We ordered a host of different sides and mains, a mix of vegetarian and meat and they were all great. Every member of the party was pleased with their order. We had our almost three year old with us and she was very well looked after. The service was excellent and super friendly, attentive with just the right balance of leaving us to enjoy our evening.I cannot wait to visit again. It was unlike anywhere else I have been, a real hidden gem.Thank you for your feedback

First visit to Lime. Decided to bring a couple of cans of pilsner with me as I was unsure on if they were licenced or not. Went as a group of four and was seated by a kind waiter. I asked him if I could have my own drinks to which he replied "yes only your own alcohol". Perfect. I asked for a glass which arrived swiftly and proceeded to pour my first drink. Before I knew it, a different, aged man in a shirt took the can out of my hands and loudly stated "NO cans. ONLY bottles. YOU can't have that in here." This was embarrassing and I felt like a naughty child back at school. I explained how the other waiter hadn't specified that I wasn't allowed cans only to be pointed to some tiny writing above the till which you wouldn't see on your way in unless you stood nose-to-nose at the front desk. To make matters worse, I was presented a tiny bottle of warm Stella and told to drink that instead. Apparently cans look "tacky" which is fair enough, and I wouldn't have minded if I wasn't 'told off' like a naughty boy. Anyway, after the man had finished his harassment I proceeded to pop next door and grab a couple of bottles of lager to have with my meal as I don't drink Stella and certainly don't appreciate being made to feel like I was a criminal. If I do ever return, I'll be sure to bring my bottles and magnifying glass. Although I probably won't, because the food is nothing special.Hi Alex FThanks for your review and as always we welcome feedback.I'd like to address your query and provide the full context to your visit for the readers. Firstly it is not common practice for people who are unsure if a restaurant is licenced or not to just come with their own drinks on the off chance a restaurant is licenced or not - most people either call up or check our website to find out and in both cases they would have been advised of the policy very clearly. In addition, as you walk into the restaurant our policy is also clearly displayed directly infront that explains this very clearly in font size 48 and is impossible to miss as you enter - I would be slightly concerned for you if did require magnifying glasses to read such large text!? on a serious note if you felt we could have done more to make it clearer I would be grateful for your feedback ([email protected]).At your table you were very politely advised of the drinks policy that no cans are allowed in to the restaurant. After this explanation you continued to challenge our policy and were very persistent to seek permission to do so. The matter could have been very easily closed in 10 seconds had you accepted and respected our drinks policy and the explanation we provided. Unfortunately with you not wanting to accept this we had to repeat this several times until you finally realised we would not make any exceptions on our policy - this was not nice for our staff to deal with, for you or your fellow guests. We calmly explained that we have a very generous policy of allowing you to bring your own alcoholic drinks (bottles only - no cans) and we do not charge corkage and please respect our generous policy. We do not apologise for our policy as we feel it is very generous and we kindly request all customers that visit to respect this which they do.One of the disappointing discrepancies from your review was how much you enjoyed our food - it is always great to see empty plates and to receive the great feedback as we did from you and your overall judgement to be clouded by not being able to use your cans. We would welcome you back as we do care about all our customers and hope that your next visit will be a more positive one and not surrounded by any confusion.

Recently my daughter and her husband went here and braught the food back for me to see for my self and taste . I am disappointed to say how distasteful it was due to the amount of green chillies were added to both the dishes. With each bite you would get several chillies. My daughter did not ask for spicy and should have been asked how hot they like it . But for sure no one could eat it as hot as that unless on a chillie challenge.Hi am sorry to hear about this from you but am sorry to say this is desi restaurant all people enjoy food but if you got bad experience maybe they ask for spicy food otherwise our cheff never make spicy food for other customer.thxz for your review.

Extensive menu with several options of Indian cuisine, large wine list, elegant decoration and good service. In one of the visits it was my birthday and they bought cake with candle, very much appreciated. I will be back with colleagues during our next trip to the city.

When my family turned up to Anoki Nottingham on Mon 7th Oct for my daughters surprise 16th birthday meal it was closed! Despite having booked online and having received 2 email confirmations of the booking, the restaurant was simply closed! I rang them in desperation and got through to Anoki Derby. There was barely an apology-you could tell this had probably happened before-and they offered us a place in their Derby restaurant 45 minutes away! I refused this and they said there was nothing they could do and that the restaurant is never open on Mondays. My question is why advertise on your website that it as open on Mondays? Why allow guests to book online on a day the restaurant is closed? Why send e-confirmations knowing it is closed? If you do not want to be disappointed-DO NOT BOOK with this restaurant. WE didn't make a fuss as I didn't want to spoil my daughters birthday so I quickly rang Mem Saab restaurant and they took us straight away. They were so kind, professional and the food was delicious-my daughter loved it there! Beware booking online with Anoki Nottingham restaurant as it doesn't work. I would avoid it entirely because if they treat customers like that it must be very poorly managed. You have been warned.

We have never been disappointed with meals from Akbar Balti, whether ordering takeway or eating in. We actually ate in this time and having not been since the redecoration loved how they had made it lighter and brighter without losing the friendly atmosphere. All three of us had chicken tikka in various sauces, masala, kashmiri and passanda with boiled rice, pilau rice and a peshwari naan. The food was wonderful as usual and the house red wine very drinkable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and their service was attentive without being excessive.
