It is situated in south central England, and lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon. It is located 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Southampton, 48 miles (77 km) southwest of London, and 19 miles (31 km) northeast of the county town and former capital Winchester. According to the 2016 population estimate the town had a population of 113,776. It is part of the borough of Basingstoke and Deane and part of the parliamentary constituency of Basingstoke. We ordered take away tonight, after an hour and 10 minutes of waiting phoned to be told itâs on its way nothing in kitchen please bear with us. After another 40 minutes to be told itâs on its way after questioning this was told very busy a bit chaotic and weâve stopped taking orders, eventually admitted it wasnât done. Was asked if Iâd ordered through âDeliverooâ no Iâd ordered through their website, our website is down was the reply, oh why have I got order confirmation then. Asked why theyâd lied was told I was rude and they wouldnât take orders from our address any more, cancelled order and told they would refund my money and hung up on me. Never use them again, shame because food has always been good before, but rude and no customer service!!!!!!Hi Sue, I'm so sorry for the delays that occurred that night, we had new front and kitchen staff and therefore we're a lot slower that day. We also had drivers fail to show up which further caused delays. Currently, we have great kitchen staff as well as front staff. The waiter who had provided poor customer service to several of our customers has been removed and will not be returning. We are deeply sorry about what occurred that night and would like to rectify the situation if you would allow so. Please do reply to the message I have sent so we can make sure you have a great meal from the Cromwell.

Birthday evening meal for our friend. We had a very warm welcome as always. We had great food, with a very good service although it was a busy Friday evening (busy between home deliveries and restaurant) however we did not have to wait long. The owner is always extremely pleasant and really makes you feel âat homeâ. The quality of food and the quantity was excellent. It was not my first visit, I have been there once a year for several years, we do also use their collection service every now and then. On a positive note, they do now offer collection or delivery service.

Another lovely visit to this quaint little place, food absolutely delicious, great service, staff very friendly, owner always charming and friendly, always takes time to chat to us even in busy times. An asset to Basingstoke and a place we will return to again and again.

Had horrendous snow over the weekend in Basingstoke. Resulting in us having no food lolVentured down to the restaurant Saturday so grateful it was open. Glad we booked a table as it was very busy with people eating in and getting takeaway, plus deliveryâs.Again food was brilliant, very yummy as per usualService was great even though they were rushed off their feetAgain we will definitely return soon and keep on recommend to friends and family

We have been visiting Spice for nearly 10 years. The staff are friendly and courteous and we are always made to feel welcome. We always enjoy our meal, the Chicken Dhansak, Tandoori Chicken and Chicken Biryani are favourites, along with their delicious garlic naan breads. We always look forward to our Thursday night curry!

Wanted to try this food as had heard good feedback and read great reviews. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. We had a small meal; rogan josh and prawn korma, both with rice, nan bread and poppadoms. Both the rogan josh and prawn koorma were very bland to taste. The rogan josh lacked heat and spices and the nan bread was a bit too thick. Because of that we didn't have anything else.I would not say to not go, but please mention that they have had an unhappy customer.

Two of us called in on the off-chance that they would have a table, and they did and we were seated quickly. We were served very quickly indeed with knowledgeable and pleasant waiters who advised us on what some of the dishes were and how spicy they were. Our food and drink arrived quickly despite there being a large party in the restaurant who were half way through their meal. The food was superb and probably one of the best Indian food establishments I have been to. Will definately be back.Thank you for sharing your feedback.
