We sat outside on a beautifully warm Friday lunchtime. A nice welcome and a good table. A large and varied menu. Good food and moderate prices.

The Gletscherschliff is an excellent place to end up in after a walk in the Leutaschklamm. The views over Mittenwald and the Karwendel mountains are very good from the small terrace. Try the home baked cakes â they are extremely tasty and not too expensive.

Situated at 1200 metres high, the German/Austrian border runs through the south facing terrace! It's about an hour's steep walk up through the trees from Mittenwald, but well worth the effort. Stunning views south into Austria in brilliant sunshine, and a pleasant welcome. We enjoyed a 'well deserved' lunch with beer, feeling 'on top if the world'! Highly recommended!

Everyone will love Plangger! Friendly service, basic, but high quality products (think hams and cheeses with bread), and wonderful beers. Whatâs not to like? Add a cosy interior and trendy, people-watching, exterior and youâre on to a winner! It is busy though, so good luck getting a table - itâs worth it!

Like all local food, everything is heavily greased and buttered. Atmosphere is unique, and the fireplace is lighted. The owner is very kind but the menu is limited... and so is his English. Good to have his 14 years old son around.

The restaurant is located at the Burggraben road and offers very good local food. The service is awesome and I can only recommend it. Suggestion: Innsbruckerschnitzel
This hut is on the Adlerweg (eagle path) which crosses the Karwendel Mountains. It can be reached on foot or by bike. It's a cozy traditional building: wood and old paintings everywhere. Behind this vintage appearance, there's a very modern and efficient organisation: the toilets are brand new, you'll get a chip card which will be charged with what you order (no messy paper when calculating the bills) and you'll find all you need to service your bike. Despite the workload generated by the huge amount of people coming and going, the personnel is nice and smiling and the service is quick. The only minus I could spot is that with the half pension is relatively expensive and you've no choice about what you can eat. It's not bad food but in hindsight I should have ordered a la carte: the price would have been the same but the experience would have been better. Important note, there's no signal at the hut and for kilometers around, so don't rely on your smartphone.

Whilst walking from Mittenwald to Scharnitz this was the first watering hole we found. The staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful. They have a good choice of food and drinks both hot/cold and reasonably priced too. Also tried the bakery/café across the road on another day. Both worth a visit.
