This is a great restaurant in a quiet part of the city; we were exploring Heiligenstadt and Grinzinger so it was a perfect place to stop for lunch! The interior is modern Austrian with nice local touches. Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The two-course fixed price lunch was excellent value. My husband had the beef consomme starter; we both had the lunchtime sized schnitzel (still large!), which came with potato salad topped with some green salad, and I had chestnut tiramisu for dessert. The food was all excellent, with the tiramisu in particular being absolutely delicious! We were really pleased to have stumbled upon this excellent restaurant and would definitely recommend it.

We were recommended to try a visit to one of the famous Viennese Heurigers. These are vineyards or wineries on the outskirts of the city. After some research I settled on this place and booked a table by email with the owners. After some initial disappointment that they did not serve any beer (why would they as a winery?!) it turned that we had the best fun and meal of our Vienna stay. We tried various wines mainly white but surprisingly the one red on sale was very popular with some of our party (although I did not rate it!). Food was provided by self service buffet but don't let that put you off. It was excellent. Highly recommend but you'll need to get a taxi or uber from the centre although you can take public transport but it takes up to an hour whereas a taxi is only 20-30 minutes. We sat inside but there were lovely outside tables that would have been nice in good weather.

I guess I am lucky that I live only few hundred meters away from this nice small restaurant and winery. I've never get bored with their food because they always have something new in their menus seasonally. No matter spring, summer, fall or winter, I'm always surprised to find and taste the new culinary creation of the Chefs. It is a little bit difficult for tourists to get to this place, since it's unreachable using public transport. But especially in summer, it's worth a visit.

an der Donau bei der Rollfaehre
Right at the little ferry crossing, this cafe serves up a delicious fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil on fresh bread, along with a decent kasekrainer and passable curry wurst. But it's really about the middle-of-nowhere locale and cool relaxed vibe. Relax for half an hour after the bike ride from Vienna, take the ferry across (2.80 euros for adults) and either bike back down to Vienna along the Donau Insel or head another 7k to Kreuzenstein Castle. Another great way to spend a day when in Vienna!

Kleines Restaurant mit Wohlfühlatmosphäre, frisch gekocht auf Haubenniveau und dazu hervorragende Weine! Tolles Preisleistung-Verhältnis.
Nice atmosphere and good service, and more importantly, tasty food (the chocolate mousse is particularly smooth and creamy...). I can't comment on the price as I was part of a large group (business).

Nice choice of traditional Austrian dishes that are prepared with quality and care. Service is competent, friendly, polite and efficient. Nice scenery right next to the Danube river and good parking spots. One downside. There is a smoking dining room as well that causes a slight smelly atmosphere. For smokers convenient though.

The heuriger is located in Klosterneuburg. It was a little tricky to find for non-locals, located along a narrow one way street. Upon entering you are faced with an amazing garden, with many trees and flowers, and tables located amongst them. Staff are super friendly, some English. The wine was excellent, the food was ordered from a small inside buffet, which was brought out. Excellent selection of home made salads and traditional hot Austrian dishes. Food quality was excellent. Very inexpensive too. Highly recommended.
