Hungry, Sunday and evening seemed to be in this region in winter a unhappy combination. By chance we found the Stubn (cosy room) and have been quite surprised. Quite some international oriented local dishes on offer we could not resist to go with the Heringschmaus (local gold fish dish during carnival time) and the tagliatelle with salmon. We had lambs-leaf salad with potato chips (quite unusual but good) and for the kids we ordered noodles with tomato sauce. Unfortunately it did not come just plain as to be expected for little kids but with onions, veggies and quite spicy. As the kids refused to eat this dish the found they delight with the salmon-dill noodles.Pudding was kindly offered but nothing what we really liked. So we asked for a Sabayon and they really made one. It would not win the michelin star awards but was still very agreeable and we enjoyed it a lot. Their Glühwein is quite good as well.The only downside was they the charged the sent-back kids dishes in full. But as the service was excellent, unlike most of restaurants in this area they even offered a kids play corner, the food a delight and they really tried hard we thought why fight for a tenner? I can fully recommend this place for a good and honest meal and would go there back at any time.

Wirklich sehr gemütlich, ordentliche Portionen zu einem super Preis und spitzen Hollermost!! Und den Kindern wird mit grossem Spielplatz und Streichelzoo auch viel geboten. Reservierung vor allem abends empfohlen!

During our cycling through Austria, we encountered at place called Mochoritsch. There is a lot of parking space for engine vehicles and other means of transportation.We were sitting outside, where you can find large wooden tables with benches. There is also enough shade if you catch a pretty sunny day. Staff is really polite and they were prompt with our orders. We decided that lunch menu is the best way to go. Beef soup was great and a lot of it. Continued with main course such as famous pork Wiener schnitzel and something different untypical for the region, wok dish with chicken stirpes and vegetables. Wiener was really big and just about the right thickness. Wok was also really nice with great sauce. With menu there is also salad and desert which you can choose from different varieties such as cake, pudding, apelstrudel, topfen strudel etc.Toilets are clean and big enough to accept a decent amount of the guests. All in all it was a very pleasant experience. Recommended.

During a short vacation we were at the Wildensteiner Wasserfall and afterwards for lunch at the Gasthaus Zenkl.Very good food; and more than enough of it :-) at reasonable prices.

I was today with my friends in the mountains and at the end of our trip we wanted to drink something. The restaurant-gasthaus is located 50 m from Slovenian border in a bilingual comunity Eisenkappel-Zelezna kaplja. When I kindly asked a waiter if he speaks Slovenian, he said me in a very inpolite way that we are in Austria! I didnt want to argue, i just said if we are now welcome, then we will go away. Avoid if you are Slovenian!

Sehr schön gelegen Hütte, sogar mit Auto zu erreichen, geführt ganz frisch von einer motivierten und sympathischen Jungfamilie, kleiner Kinderspielbereich ( schon aufgrund der eigenen kleinen Tochter angelegt ), viel Platz im Freien auf der Wiese mit Blick auf die Karawanken, gutes typisch Kärntner Essen ( Kasnudel, Kässpätzle, "Obirgröstl", naja auch Bauernschmaus gibts ) und Hirter Bier vom Fass!!!, gemütliche Zimmer bzw. Lager mit echt frischer Bettwäsche, sehr sauber, auch kostenfreie Dusche vorhanden, super Frühstück mit Käse, Wurst, bisschen Gemüse, wirklich zum Wohlfüheln - und in 1,5 Stunden ist man auf dem fantastischen Aussichtsberg, dem Hochobir - Juhu!!!

Die Anreise mit dem Fahrrad war zwar etwas schweiÃtreibend, dafür wurden wir mit wunderschönem Ausblick und gepflegten Getränken belohnt! Für die Qualität der angebotenen Speisen fehlen mir Tage danach noch die Worte, das hätte ich in dieser Einschicht nie für möglich gehalten! Ich hoffe das bleibt noch lange so, denn ich werde sicher wiederkommen.
