Our NEW Restaurant and Pizzeria is located in the local centre of Dorfgastein and offers delicious homemade pizza and other dishes in a cosy atmosphere. Beside the main restaurant, we offer also a smaller nicely decorated room, for approximately 25 guests
The quality of the food is marginal and the waitstaff is unfriendly and unhelpful. We came to this restaurant without a recommendation, but just by chance. Among all my experiences of dining around the world this is clearly one of my worst. There are other restaurants is this charming Austrian village and they should all be used before trying this place.

This is a delightful little restaurant in a delightful little village! The breakfast offering includes eggs if you're so interested. Other restaurants/bakeries in this town do not. The proprietress speaks adequate English and she is lovely to chat with as she looks after your order. A nice selection of pastries are also available here

At the top of the cable car, there are great views from this restaurant when the weather is sunny. We took a coffee break here and ordered a Kaiserschmarrn with plum sauce to share. It was large and sufficient for two people to share. You order at the table and the food is brought out to you. There werenât a lot of people so we got what we ordered fairly quickly. The Kaiserschmarrn was good, but there was a bit too much sugar on top of it. We have had better elsewhere.

Really special meal. Waitress was very good at explaining the menu to us in impeccable English!Made the mistake of having soup and main course as no room for dessert!!Great portion size. Amaxing soups, ragout and wiener schnitzel. Good hpuse wine. Lucky to be staying in Unterberg and so a short stroll for us but worth a drive!!

We have been stopping here for years. The owners and staff are absolutely charming and friendly. We are always greeted with a drink on the house on arrival each season. Half Finnish- half Austrian Elona is the epitome of a professional waitress and is always smiling. The choice of food is outstanding; kaspressknoedel in sauerkraut, Kaiserschmarrn, when the weather is nice BBQ sausages, kasnocken....I could go on. There is always a happy atmosphere on the usually sunny terrace. Great choice of drinks including the Enzian schnaps that has won the highest Austrian award. Wake up you rip-off Swiss alpine food outlets. This is how it should be done. You also walk away with money left in your pocket!

The Wengeralm is run by the Mittersteiner family and is at 1,650 metres on Fulseck in the Dorfgastein area. It is open in summer and winter.A summer trek from the top of the of Dorgastein cable car takes you down towards the middle cable station. On the way, less than 30 minutes away is the Wengeralm, which in summer, is a welcome refreshment stop. We have been there several times and have never been disappointed. The local speciality are their sausages (wurst) but in summer, we never get any further than a cold beer and one of their enormous fruit waffles. Although there is covered outside seating the interior in summer is very cool and a great respite from the heat. The interior is very tastefully decorated and service prompt and efficient. Toilets downstairs.Apparently two and half hours from the base of the mountain on foot. Popular with mountain bike riders.

We had a nice meal at this warm and bustling tavern. Standard Austrian specialties are on offer, including schnitzels, grilled meats, soups and other items. They also have a number of local specialties, including the house "Stoani schnitzel", which uses pumpkin seeds mixed with the standard breading, and a Tyrolean kaseschnitzel, melted cheese and ham in a pumpkin seed/breaded crust. Both were very good. A full range of drinks are on offer as well to accompany the meal, including a few interesting local wines . Very friendly service. A popular place so encourage you to get there early or book ahead. They are closed Mondays.

In a very comfortable and quaint interior, the Romerhof offers high quality Austrian cuisine- covering the classics but also offering a broader range of dishes. They offer classic soup choices- both the frittaten suppe and the pumpkin cream soup were excellent, the latter also with black sesame seeds. The mains were very good as well. The hirschragout (Deer Stew) was delicious, with candied chestnuts, mushrooms and Spaetzle, as was the rack of lamb , served with vegetables and potatoes. They offer a range of wines by the glass from Austria as well as many options by the bottle. Service is very friendly and welcoming- we came in without a reservation and were seated without hesitation- it might be more challenging in busy periods though. Overall a nice dinner.

Almatad'l is a nice place for good food in a comfortable setting. It is a small place so advisable to book in high season. The menu is classic Austrian with many good options for soups, salads, schnitzels, grilled meats, and other specialties. The schnitzels are very good, as are the soups - the classic backerbsen and frittaten soups are very good, as is the local specialty of Kaspressknodel soup, which has dumplings made with melted cheese inside. The spaetzle is a huge portion served in a pan, layered with speck and melted cheese - excellent taste. The grilled platter gives a good range of meats together with french fries. They have wines by the glass, beers, soft drinks and liquors. Service is very friendly and relatively fast.
