This restaurant is part of the Best Western Plus Hovell Tree Inn, located on the beautiful Murray River esplanade.
Having dined at the Hovell Bar & Grill many times over the past 6 years, it has been the friendly service and consistently great food that draws us back each time. As a customer I crave these qualities and unfortunately many restaurants tend not to provide the same great experience at the next visit ... happily, the Hovell Bar & Grill have maintained consistently high standards over the years. Since our last visit 2 years ago it was evident that a staff change over had occured; my past experience with this situation has normally seen a drop in standards (food & service), this was not the case and can report that the meals and service were awesome. To the staff on shift 15 Jul 19 ... great work and we look forward to dining with you again when we next stay in Albury.Dear scottk687,Thank you for your excellent review, we are thrilled with your remarks. We very much appreciate your loyalty to our hotel. The Hovell Tree Inn prides itself on offering the upmost services to all of our guests and we love when that is appreciated. Our Hovell Restaurant is one of the many great offerings at our hotel. The food is divine, not to mention convenient Happy Hour available not just for one hour, but two. I'm thrilled you enjoyed your time and I'll pass your lovely review on to our Restaurant Team.We look forward to the next time you're in Albury visiting us. You're welcome back anytime. Kind regards,Blake Davis

An oasis on Wodonga's main street, The Secret Cup offers beautiful coffee, light meals, sweets, art and music, in a garden and heritage building with front and rear courtyards. Focus on local produce, local artists and locally roasted coffee.
Lovely ambiance and very pleasant spot to sit in the sun. The trouble is that the food is quite ordinary and very expensive for what you get. I paid $9.50 for a salad roll. When it arrived it had a small piece of ham, bit of plastic cheese from the supermarket and a piece of lettuce. Best avoided. Thanks for your input FNerk, we're sorry you found our cafe/restaurant expensive, however would like to note that the salad rolls have a generous amount of double smoked ham, tasty cheese from a local dairy (not from the supermarket), pickled carrot (pickled here by our kitchen), cos lettuce and tomato, with a local mustard spread. The rolls are offered mainly as a quick take-away option, with the main fare being our al a carte menu, which you'll find is the cheapest in the region for the standard of meal offered.I do hope you'll give us another try and perhaps appreciate the amount of staff being paid to bring the lovely ambience and food which is sourced locally from small family businesses, like ours, to you. :)

My new husband and I came in for breakfast on our honeymoon before exploring the town for the day. My husband always leaves a little bit of food on his plate which I have to eat. Nothing to eat this time; he finished his whole plate! We went back the very next day! Coffee is good too.

Suggested we go here by friends while staying overnight in Wodonga. Nice looking cafe with plenty of space and the place was pretty full with people coming for Sunday breakfast etc. Being from Melbourne we were rather surprised with the prices. You can't get all that back home for that amount of money. It was recommended we eat the egg and bacon roll and my wife did and she liked it, I had mushrooms on toast and while I liked it very much it was a fraction too vinegary, but nothing worth worrying about. Others might like it that way.Coffee was exactly as expected, so no complaints. Service was good and prompt delivery of meals. All good there.A kid didn't want their waffles so I had those too and can say they are pretty good as they can easily be bad in my experience. They do dinner as well as far as I could tell and if you wanted to get drunk on wine, this is the place. The wine by the glass is at least half what it is in Melb. It's a nice generic looking country cafe/restaurant, nothing to get excited about but nothing to complain about either.A very pleasant and satisfying place for a meal and on a nice day the tables outside would be very nice.

The Goods Shed is located in an old railway precinct showcasing 16 taps of Australian Craft Beer, delicious regional wines and a cracking menu to compliment utilising locally sourced produce with an artisan flair.
Out and about we went for lunch at one of our favourites The Goods Shed. Service, meal etc was really good, duck springs rolls, soft shell crab slider and lamb kofters. Meals are so consistent as to quality and delivery. Good range of revolving beers on tap.

We stopped at BeanStation on our way to Melbourne instead of the dreaded McHighway special. Nice industrial decor. Great coffee and service. The Reuben was amazing, with lovely fat and crunchy chips. Cauliflower fritters were meh ... no cauliflower texture, sauce/dressing/chick peas could be improved. Weâll be back.

Such. Good. Food. Melt in your mouth beef Cheeks, and a delightfully balanced dish of Double Baked chicken. Also, our arancini and pudding were lovely - mains definitely stood out. Well priced for quality food. Service ridiculously efficient and minimal wait times on peak time Saturday night. Staff were lovely and helpful. Can't fault anything. Thank you!

We had dinner last week at miss amelie, and started off at little missy! Great cocktail! We were showed our table by the maitre d. Well presented menu and I asked for some provenance of the items on the menu. And to my surprise one item in particular was a frozen item! ( duck). I missed that one for the price ...The other items were good. We had a few comments on the food and didnât expect the chef to arm himself with bring so arrogant at the table. My friends and I were felt as if we could not comment. It was like âyou come to my house, be quiet, pay and leaveâYes we are 2019, but Mr chef, you should be aware that customers pays your bill and wages at the end of the night, and sometimes we paying customers have the right to pass on COMMENTS!!!I never experienced this before, that was a first and certainly a last. Do this in the city and you are gone. This restaurant is very popular with locals. Sir, Again I appreciate your feedback, just like I did at your table when I spoke to you. You have felt the need to express this further, but left out the detail. Your friend, didnât like the flavours with her calamari ( Romesco, black bean, and squid ink pasta). The menu clearly stated what the dish contained, It certainly didnât read chips and tartare sauce. Your friend also didnât like the âcheesy sauceâ with her steak ( Jerusalem artichoke purée) , again, there isnât much a chef can do about personal taste preferences. And sir, too be honest your feedback that your duck fat potatoes were âtoo hotâ was something Iâve never heard before in my 20 years in a kitchen. And yes this did piss me off. We work 70 hours a week, sacrifice watching my children grow up, to listen to ridiculous complaints like this. I agree sir, that some restaurants are not for everyone. Iâm a very humble man sir, those that know me and my restaurant would vouch the same. I hope everyone that reads this review understands the frustration hospitality workers are constantly put through day by day by customers who think the world owes them something. Well, Iâm sorry sir but we donât.

This small cafe offers tasty, fresh delicious food. Itâs great to see an all day breakfast menu that isnât only about eggs. My mushrooms with feta were a treat. The staff are friendly and helpful. Whilst itâs not in the center of Albury it is very close and perfect for West Albury residents. I donât drink coffee, and tea was not listed in the drinks. They actually serve T 2 leaf teas. Another plus for me.Iâll be back.
