Set on the picturesque Macleay River and bordered by thriving palms, luscious green grass and neat hedges, is Riverside Tavern on New Entrance Road in South West Rocks. From a tiled alfresco dining space complete with charming, wooden outdoor furniture, g
Had a good evening there with 18 friends, but the evening was spoiled for 4 of them who ordered lamb shanks, as they were close to raw! Management was quick to offer refunds and replacement meals, but the damage had been done. Everything else on their menu went down very well!

This is our 2nd visit to 3 Bouys since they opened in 2018 and we have been very impressed with freshness of the menu. The price point is only a few dollars more than the local pub and provides great service magic views of main beach and great food.

Surf clubs are usually pretty reliable for cheap and hearty food, and often also offer water views. South West Rocks Surf Club certainly met most of this criteria although I can't say at an impressive level. The outside dining area certainly looked across the beach but the layout and setting of the balcony seating is not very inviting although it serves its purpose. The service was friendly but very slow and a bit hap hazard. The food wasn't that cheap and was passable but not the best I have had. We had a bucket of prawns that whilst fresh were not the tastiest and we didn't get that many for our dollar. The beef salad was totally over drenched in salad dressing and the beef was not the best quality - a bit chewy and fatty. Edible but not the best. I like to support local surf clubs as they are a very important part of our Aussie culture and lifestyle so do visit this one but go with the expectation of receiving an average meal and service rather than something exceptional. Perfectly fine for a standard, basic lunch.

A relaxed & fun dining atmosphere. Inside & outside dining with a cubby house & playground for the kids. Fresh made in house menu items!! The best burgers. Fully licensed so you can enjoy one of our cocktails, a glass of wine or a beer! Open 6 days a week
The only positive to this restaurant is that it is located for convenience within the Big 4 Sunshine. Iâm not sure if it is managed by the resort or owned separate? Food was average at best. We had what was supposed to be a family chips one day for $7 which was for 4 people at best. They were absolutely drowned in chicken salt which the girl tried to charge me an extra $1 for.Another day I ordered a burger.... what a sloppy mess this was. It couldnât even be picked up. For $15 I expected a lot better and also assumed it would come with chips..... nope! I also ordered Fish for my son..$14. This was meant to come with a side salad, however I asked if he could have chips instead.... turns out I could, but that was an extra $3!!! Drinks are also overpriced at $4 each for a 375ml can and a popper..... learnt though you can buy drinks in the activity hut for only $2.50 for the same thing. My guess for the exorbitant prices is the amount of staff on, but all this staff and I still waited close to 30 mins for the order above and only 2 coffees with scones and one other meal went out in that time... by no means was it busy. Canât comment on what their dinner options are like as we didnât risk it, but it couldnât be worse. Shame this restaurant was such a let down as it is so convenient having it onsite. Big improvement needed .

Staying at South West Rock's and went to The Rocks Restaurant for dinner. Entree was gluten free calamari with Mediterranean marinade and ouzo aoli: very light and full of flavour. Main was duck breast with roasted root vegetables and beetroot puree: beautiful flavours although the duck was a bit tough. Highly recommended. Unfortunately I forgot to photograph the main until it was half eaten!

Perhaps those who found the management unfriendly should have a frank discussion with their mirror. Weâve been numerous times and are always treated cordially. My only criticism is that vegetarians/vegans are not too well catered for. But that said, we are coming back for dinner this Saturday night and the maître D offered to prepare a special vegetarian menu for the four of us. Very happy to recommend this place to nice people. You will enjoy it all. C&R

My family of 4 ate here recently, I had read the reviews in TripAdvisor and thought it would be good, and it was. We enjoyed our breakfast, my husband said the coffee was good too. The food was flavoursome and generous in serving size. My daughter had a lovely smoothie too.
