Great location of Portland bay from Bentinck Street and with the hinged windows across the front bench area it was pleasant to sit and eat.I had the arancini balls, which were absolutely delicious but they were accompanied by a salad that was a little odd in taste. Could have been the dressing because the calamari dish was also served with the same salad which was fine, however the calamari was average. I guess I always expect a fishing port to do seafood well.We walked past this venue the day before and they had live music, possibly weekends only but not sure. The service was good and the meals generous.I'd definitely go again and try breakfast, could be early days for this place as I have been told it was recently purchased.

We attempted to have a cup of coffee at Isabella's cafe at 3.30 pm on Easter Sunday, so did many others. The restaurant website did publish 10am to 4pm as opening hours. Upon arrival at 3.30pm we were advised by a polite staff member that the coffee machine has been disassembled and coffee was no longer available. Why not be honest on your website and rather than saying opening hours from 10am to 4pm just say last orders taken at 2.30pm, the guests are welcome to hang around till 4pm but even then it would make our life easier if they could leave the premises prior to 4 pm that would be very beneficial to us.As it is a bank holiday weekend you would have hoped that local businesses make an effort to promote the beauty spots of the region, however Isabella's doesn't need to do that. The premises are located in a beautiful spot - one that speaks for itself - just do not expect a cup of coffee at the end of the road your own thermos is the way to go.

One of the locals recommended this hotel for a meal. Pleasant, clean and spacious on arrival. Staff friendly, polite and helpful. The two seafood platers for 1 were very good 8/10. The carbonara was good 7/10, the Rogan Josh 3/10. While we were there, two steaks went back and another meal. Service was good and waiting time was also good. But there was also a 2% surcharge on Visa & Mastercard???? In short, some good points and some not so good. Hence the average rating.
Loved our breakfast choice this morning, porridge and poached eggs with extras along with a good coffee and hot chocolate..service was quick with both coffee and breakfast. Tables where cleared as need, which I like, rather than plates sitting there waiting. You have several choice of places to sit a little back room (a bit more private) the main room and out front, which we chose today

This is becoming an annual pilgrimage as part of our family Christmas trips to western districts Victoria. Per last year, couldn't be happier. Friendly staff and really fresh tasty fish and chips. Will be back next year (and remember, it is inland on Otway street, not in the main beach drag)

The pizza was terrific, but the service was painfully slow. After 30 minutes, I went to the front counter to see if we were forgotten ... just coming up ... no, they weren't that busy. That's the only thing that could be improved -- the food was good.

Saturday night was fairly busy in Macâs but we got a table by a window. Decor is pretty jaded and faded but the buzz was good with locals having a night out. A good menu and reasonably priced. Our meals were the nice, tasty decent pub fare expected in Aussie country towns. But certainly nothing special. Lovely old building too.

Five of us ate here for Motherâs Day and were overall very very disappointed with the food. We ordered the corn fritters (we rated this as number one for horrendous ... a warm patty is a far cry from a crispy fritter), lamb salad that was bland and awful with some stray pieces of mandarin, fish which was over cooked and sitting on a the awful couscous, calamari which was ok. We ended our expensive and bland meal with a couple of cakes we chose from the display cabinet which were delicious .... I think we can guess that these are bought in from outside suppliers. Go there for coffee and cake otherwise steer well clear of this overpriced and underwhelming restaurant.

Visited the Royal Hotel tonight. The service was very good, the entree of salt & pepper calamari could have been much more spicy & salty and cooked another minute or two. the mains where both very good, being Sea Bream & Chicken Parmi, both served with salad & chips as request But Guys what a lack of good quality craft beer, one only, the world has changed even for country pubs and my only other issue is the decor especially lighting, Fluro tubes are 80âs stuff. Absolutely no ambience

We recently dined at this restaurant. The service was appalling. Several tables who came after us were on their second course before we had our first. 1.5 hours from order to food is not acceptable, especially when there is no bread served on arrival. Some meals were stone cold. I found my meal to be below the standard I would expect, the pork belly was not pressed adequately and as a result had thick layers of fat. Won't be back. The entrees were good, the mains not so and atrocious service.
