Find out what Australian restaurants to try in Perth. Perched on the banks of the wide Swan River, between the Indian Ocean and the sands of the Nullarbor Desert, Perth is one of the world's most isolated cities, yet still boasts an active beach scene and smokin’ nightlife. Family-friendly Cottesloe is brimming with swimmers, surfers and snorkelers. Head north to Scarborough for a spirited beachside club scene. Coo at cute marsupials on ferry-accessible Rottnest Island, and don’t miss the views from King's Park and Botanic Gardens.

Bar scene, special occasion dining, entertaining clients
Dropped in for lunch after reading an exceptional review in the West Australian newspaper. Tucked away down off St Georges terrace and opposite the new Elizabeth Quay Balthazar is a kind of hidden gem! I guess being a Monday lunchtime the restaurant was not very busy. We were quickly seated and the young waitress was very pleasant and helpful. She described the dishes perfectly. I chose the carpaccio for entree with lamb for mains. My wife went straight for the seafood spaghettini. The carpaccio was outstanding. The combination of flavours brilliant. My lamb was very good. A side of duck fat potatoes was also ordered which were brilliant. My wife still raves about the spaghettini! I must admit it did look damn good. Thoroughly enjoyed.Being a lunchtime and driving duties to follow we didn't do our usual thing and order a bottle of wine but if we had the listing was comprehensive and caters for all price points. One nice thing which we really appreciated was the restaurant packing the remainder of the side of potatoes for us. They were too good to leave behind and were consumed with dinner that night!Balthazar will become a regular of ours now we have found it. Great food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Having just arrived from the UK into Perth I was looking for somewhere where I could get a good quality dinner, but nothing too heavy or too expensive. Petition filled this requirement ideally. The dished are prepared and served when ready, so maybe order one course at a time or you might find dishes arriving to quickly and sitting around. Service is efficient and friendly. Prices are very reasonable given the standard of the food. Would revisit if ever in Perth.Hi Paul, Thanks for coming to dine with us and taking the time to leave some feedback about your experience. We believe we offer excellent value for money and are always happy to guide you to some undiscovered classics on our dining or breakfast menu. We're also happy to slow down service if you would like to graze your way through our menu, leaving room for dessert and cheese of course. Our kitchen team work really hard to deliver excellent food using quality WA produce and I look forward to sharing your feedback with the team. Thanks again for taking the time to leave us some feedback and we hope to welcome you back to Petition Kitchen, Beer Corner or Wine Bar & Merchant during your next visit down under. Warm Regards,James BroadhurstRestaurant Manager

Situated high above the city centre, C Restaurant is Perth's only revolving restaurant offering unrivalled views. Open seven days a week for lunch, High Tea and dinner we serve award winning Australian food and wines with professional service.
I don't know where to start with how disappointing this experience was, again. I had been to C restaurant in the past for lunch, and this time went for dinner a few years later. Since my date had been wanting to try C restaurant I thought I would give it a second chance and be hopeful things had changed. They had not, this time I wasn't the only one disappointed. I booked a reservation for dinner as a birthday surprise and when we arrived there was some confusion to our reservation, it was a little awkward but I dismissed it and after showing that I had made the reservation online we were taken to a table. Nice view and slightly dated decor still but the seating was ok. My date wanted to move the chair to be a bit more comfortable at the table but we were advised to keep everything as it is since someone else was going to be sitting behind us (no one came to the next table, or many other tables for at least an hour). This was a slight hiccup but nothing drastic. We sat at the table waiting for sometime for someone, anyone, to come take our orders. We had to flag someone down for this, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Finally we had our orders taken, this time waiting for some drinks, complimentary water even, and again, had to flag someone down and ask what was happening, all the while other tables did appear to have some nice servers who were friendly, accomodating and offered still or sparkling at the very least. The water came, and was spilled over the table, again maybe just a hiccup. The food came, not with the expectation of a fine dining restaurant but more the service you would receive in a diner when your plate is just put on the table, server reaching over your date and not the order we asked for. Waited again for a long time for the correct main dish to come and had to eat separately since the food would go cold, a bit of a disappointment when one person is waiting for food and the other sitting there watching. In addition to this we had to ask a few times for some sides we ordered but they arrived so late we presumed they forgot and we had eaten the mains already. We held our breath for dessert hoping that some special birthday surprise would make up for it. Ordered dessert and some tea and they came out from the kitchen, but not without asking for some milk with the tea, where we were given a dismissive look from the waiter. I didn't realise that asking for milk with English Breakfast was a foreign concept let alone served with attitude. At this point after finishing dessert and seeing another table receive a complimentary birthday treat with candle we didn't hold our breath. I apologised to my date that the experience was sour and didn't live up to expectations. As we were getting up to leave they must have remembered that the booking was for a birthday and it was rushed out of the kitchen. A bit of a slap in the face after a poor experience and then having to pay an overpriced bill had my teeth grinding. We were asked if everything was ok with the meals and service and if we want to leave a tip. My tip for C restaurant is this: improve the professionalism of all your staff, lose the pretentious attitude and reduce your prices because your standards don't meet expectations. There are many people hoping to come to C for a great fine dining and celebratory experience and if they are as disappointed as we were then you have wasted their money and the opportunity to be part of a special moment.Dear Jonathan R, thank you for the detailed review of your visit to C Restaurant (in August, I believe?). It is clear that we did not provide the service which you and, indeed, all our diners should expect for which, whilst there are a few comments I could take issue with, I sincerely apologise.

We arrived at 5:30 pm since we used the First Table booking. We enjoyed the excellent food and well priced wine. Delicious oysters and interesting stuffed calamari to start. Surf 'n Turf is totally WA with kangaroo fillet and Fremantle octopus. The service was also excellent - a very pleasant evening experience.

A great place to try the wild game of Australia. We tried the Jack's game platter and got to sample kangaroo, wild boar, buffalo (different from American buffalo), crocodile, camel, and emu. And you can try steaks or other dishes with those meats. And the beef steaks were amazing. Seafood options are plenty too; Wife tried the barramundi and that was also delicious! Bigger selection of beers than most Australian restaurants. Try the local Western Australia beers on tap.

Great food and impeccable service in a picturesque waterside setting, where traditional Italian flavours blend with finely crafted modern Australian dishes.
What a nice location! It was matched only by the food which was really good. I could have done without the waiter constantly reminding me that Iâm a âbig guyâ it was pretty obnoxious, especially as Iâve lost 45kgs and was with an important client who felt really awkward. This would have been a 5 star review if he had been vaguely appropriate

We went there for brunch and I have French toast with poached pear. That's the best french toast I ever had:- Great bread for the toast with char grilled surface, served with sweet barbeque bacon, salty caramel sauce, creamy custard, fresh strawberries and peppermint together with a nicely poached whole pear. Love the details and heart they have put into making this dish so delicious!! I knew it is going to be good after seeing all the review but it's another thing when you actually taste it!! Would definitely come again when i visit Perth in the future. The menu is full of other things I'd like to taste next time!!

A business associated took me here for lunch during a recent conference in Perth. The menu is modern and varied; we both went for salads, which were fresh and well presented. The decor is bright, contemporary and clean. Friendly service. Very buzzy at night, but also a good atmosphere at lunchtime. A solid choice for a meal in Perth.
