Things to do in Papua New Guinea

We dined at Rapala restaurant located in the Crowne Plaza Hotel whilst staying in Port Moresby for business. We were actually staying at the Airways Hotel but wanted to try something different & we were not disappointed. Although the decor is slightly dated we found the food to be excellent & the service outstanding. We were highly impressed with all our dishes especially the steak .

The decor and setting were certainly outstanding. But unfortunately that was about it. The chairs were more like sofas so absolutely not suitable for comfortable dining. We started with prosecco, which was good, and the amuse of stew came as a good surprise. For starter, we ordered crispy pork belly and lobster bisque. Both didnât come out warm. The pork belly was under-seasoned, accompanied by some undercooked carrot and foam that was not particularly nice. The bisque tasted strongly of lobster but lacked complexity. Some acidity would have made it better. The palate cleanser of lime sorbet was a surprise but way too sweet. For main course, we had the aged striploin and the reef lobster. The steak itself was very good thanks to the aging process rather than what the chef did to it. The grilled lobster was totally overcooked and tough, and I felt sorry for the fresh ingredient. The Shiraz and Chardonnay that accompanied the dishes had nothing worth mentioning. The service was generally good until when we refused desserts and asked for a second glass of water, and the waitress immediately asked if we liked to have our bill. Overall, we both felt that the chef knew a few culinary tricks but lacked balance in taste. For the price, it was not worth it. Green Haus Restaurant downstairs was way better while having lower prices.

Fast becoming one of Port Moresby's favorite casual dining restaurants, Big Boi offers a great array of meals and burgers. Located at Dream Inn on Waigani Drive(Next to Vision City) there is a large choice of meals and burgers at very reasonable prices. I
My friends and I decided to spend a few days at the Dream Inn since we'd never been here before. To say the least, we were thoroughly impressed with everything from the rooms, well-kept premises, excellent customer services to the peacfulness and tight security of the place. The Big Boi burger combo deal was a mouth-watering sensational delight to the taste buds! You definitely won't find the same anywhere else in Port Moresby or PNG I'm sure. The room service delivery didn't take too long and the burger was worth the wait.Defintely would recommend this place over other hotels and apartments in Moresby.
