Picture perfect views, pleasant location, great food and a little history of the local area. The cafe has nice food and commanding view over the distant Hartz Mountains. The staff were very helpful and we completed the self guided tour through the pickers huts which was interesting

Had dinner at the snug Tavern a couple of weeks ago with a large group. The meals were exceptional.....The meals came out in good time and they were fantastic and very generous servings too. It wasn't a cheap place to eat but when the food is great you don't mind. I had Tasmanian scallops and it is quite hard to find Tassie scallops these days especially at a pub so I was quite impressed.

STEAMHOUSE CAFE is conveniently located opposite the Kettering Cricket Oval in an old Gas Station. With an abundance of car spaces and an easy drive through pulling in on your way to the Bruny Island Ferry or on your way down the Channel is a breeze. We o

We had luncheon here as part of the Peppermint Bay lunch cruise. The locally sourced menu consisting of three courses was varied and delicious. Try the Derwent River Pinot Gris - it is really nice! Well done to all concerned - 10 out of 10.

Strongly suggest a visit when travelling south from Hobart. An older style pub with an interesting past and brilliant views of the marina and across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel to Bruny Island. On my recent visit, the locals were very friendly and willing to chat about Kettering, Bruny or boats.Meals are served from the main bar or a restaurant. I chose the bar service and thoroughly enjoyed some grilled local scallops, chips and salad ($30). The meal had fresh ingredients and the serving was plentiful. Complimented by a well poured schooner of Cascade Draught. The blackboard menu focused on local seafood but also covered a range of pub standards â Schnitzel, steak and even curries. Kids meals were available. I recommend a visit for a drink, or meal. A nice way to relax and wait for the Bruny ferry, or reflect on your trip to the island. Did I mention that view from the deck? The real Tassie pub experience.
